Yet more threats, more punitive actions against any who would challenge your hegemony. Did you ever stop to question if such tactics would be useful against me? Is Asaga truly who I want to win? Perhaps I've just been voting for her so that my true allegiance to Ava is not known? Perhaps I'm simply building up a shield for another? Letting you Icari lot predictably lash out at any perceived threat so that you weaken your own position. Or perhaps the only thing I truly cared about was seeing Chigara broken on the ground and I am now free to vote as I please.
You will need to take out every single other character. But the only character I particularly wish to see eliminated right now is Icari-chan. Mwahahahahaha!
Too long have the forces of Icari ruled without opposition. With Chigara safely gone there is nothing stopping me, no punitive measure that can stay my hand. For their hubris Icari's Army will be humbled.
Or you know I just sort of chip away at a juggernaut without actually making any difference. That could happen too.
I am at peace. It need not be my blade that finishes her off, because all know the identity of Worst Girl. The Penultimate blow has been struck, now there only needs to be a True Hero to strike the final blow.
Can't have a satisfying narrative that actually has choices that matter. We need to drag things out and make an episodic game where your choices don't actually mean anything. Or in some cases where you don't actually get a choice.
Frankly the fact that Asaga could be pointed out as a sub par choice in a game where Chigara exists is mystifying. The game really only has 3 garbage girls. First you have Claude (why do you exist?), then you have Chigara (a girl that I'd only be ambivalent towards if only the narrative didn't weirdly focus on her), finally you have Cosette. Cosette, though, is just personal distaste, I don't like fake lolis. I would argue that Claude and Chigara are genuine crap, though.
Huh, Icari's surprisingly high. Is this the fabled power of the tsundere?! It's too strong! I won't be swayed by your charms!! It's not like I kinda like you, idiot!... Despite my dislike of Chigara I can respect Claude getting the boot first. Worst girl. Chigara's actually pretty okay as a character, anyways, it just sucks she got such focus in the story.
I don't have access to the game but considering past mistakes I feel like as much feedback as possible is necessary and an outsiders perspective might help. Is this game going to feature much self parody? I would caution against this. A protagonist that is a pastiche of character tropes, character interactions that go a shocking swerve to how they are supposed to considering the genre, that kind of thing. You are making a game for people who might not have much experience with visual novels in addition to people who are veterans, you should try to make a more earnest story. Try for verisimilitude. I've seen previous comments about the over abundance of fan service, and I think that plays into this.
So rather then approaching the story as, "A producer trying to make an idol group a success? So cliché! Let's see how we can punch this up!" Maybe you can approach the scenario honestly and just let it speak for itself.
Welp, I was just throwing out a ridiculous situation without expecting that it would actually have happened. Is Julie perhaps the "Chigara" of this tale? She seems like a different type of girl then Chigara, so perhaps the game devs think that having her be the girl forced on us will solve the problem rather then understanding that having a girl forced on us at all is what is actually the problem. Does the event seem like a forced route lock like Chigara? Also, does anything actually happen or is it more a situation to get the MC sweating and shouting how it's not what it seems like? I'm pretty paranoid about forced routes after Sunrider but if it's just an example of the shenanigans inherent in the genre that's fine.
Question for those who played the beta but there isn't any forced encounters, are there? Like "oops, the producer got drunk and spent the night with a girl without your input, sorry"? I mean, there has to be shenanigans, but a line should be drawn, you know?
I think the reason why the Chigara forced route bugs people is that the game was marketed as, effectively, choose your waifu space battle simulator. It's a legitimate complaint that player agency is curtailed by having the protagonist enter into a romantic relationship without their input. I mean, something happening in a flashback is fine, because that is effectively playable backstory, but in the context of the games "present"? That should be entirely up to the player. Also, it doesn't matter that moving forward you have the option of pursuing other options, it's the fact that an option was chosen at all with out the players active input that is the problem. Anyways, for me at least the fact that the whole Chigara thing happened lessens any relationship possible moving forward. I mean it's already unprofessional for a captain to enter into a relationship with his subordinate, but to having him enter into a relationship with another subordinate after his first relationship ended so poorly? Unbelievable. There is also the fact that any future relationship now has to deal with the ever present shadow of Chigara.
Anyways, moving forward I would really prefer Chigara to, narratively, get thrown under the bus, at least as an option. Since rewrites are unfeasible the only path I can see moving forward is future versions of Kayto having a stubborn refusal of seeing what happened with Chigara as a legitimate relationship and instead seeing it a massive mistake. I don't even want there to be any feeling of Chigara being a past lover if you choose not to see her as such. Of course there should be the option to be wistful about Chigara, for the Chigara relationship restoration path, but if you don't and didn't want anything to do with her? There should be the option to have Kayto be literally unable to understand why he was ever with her to begin with. The way I see it there should be, like, three variables: 1. Never loved Chigara, only thought you did with current mild disgust at this fact 2. Loved Chigara, felt so betrayed by her that you vow never to involve yourself with her again (this can still lead to a Chigara path, it's one where Kayto is initially really upset with her) 3. Loved Chigara, wistful.
So Chigara sucks. How can she be made to not suck? My worry about her is that she is going to continue to take center stage. What was done with her didn't really work and the developers are going to try to "fix" her, to vindicate themselves. The most likely way they are going to do this is to give her a darker interpretation because of hive mind shenanigans. Personally I think the best thing to do with her is make her as unobtrusive as possible. Make her a damn ghost. Like keep her a possible option but make it so that you really have to work for it. The Chigara Restoration path should be something rewarding but if you aren't pursuing it Kayto should ignore her. He shouldn't even angst about her.
Chigara must be Avenger. All those clones are coming to fuck everything up. Kayto and his chosen girl will head into the depths of Diode to un-fuck up everything. Meanwhile, the remaining pilots hold the line against uncountable Prototypes, all while Claude looks on, her part finished.
Man, now I gotta go re-read that part of F/HA.
Side note: Kryska is clearly going to be your wingman in Icari's route.
Wingman would be cool, hope it's not a threesome route. Or at least you can opt out of it. Would like the tsundere and the tsundere alone.
So this is a balm for those who felt that there was little choice in the released game? I'm assuming that this is an alternate universe scenario that has no bearing on the overall plot. If that is the case I don't really see how this helps. And if this is a peggy sue scenario with a Kayto who has experienced everything is going back in time it still has the problem of a Kayto who has made decisions that the player possibly wouldn't have made.
Still, there is something to be said for the inclusion of choice. That's a move in the right direction.
Q: What happened to Kryska A: You can’t go out with Kryska in the DLC, but she’ll help out in Icari’s path
Once upon a time she was seen as the canon girl. Oh what storied, beautiful times those were. We once expected gentle pushes towards a red haired goddess, a common route that we could ignore at leisure while we pursued our preferred waifu.
Then came the Usurper.
