I voted for "More Fight Scenes". But really, I think there was a good balance of battle and story. I just don't want it to look like people want less battles.
Other thing I keep thinking but never get around to mentioning... why should the captain have to pick just one love interest? I mean, it's an indulgent work of fiction, hahah.

Seems more likely to me that Ava and Asaga will dig up some time-lost Ryuvian super-dreadnaught. Or myabe whole moon will be a ship? My money's on giant mechanised space whale. If that happens, it will turn out that the Ryuvian moon is an egg. And when the moon-egg hatches, the space whale will be born.

This looks interesting. I'll have to try it out when I play the game again someday.

Maybe a mini-game where the protagonist relaxes at the end of the day by playing a game. A game where he gets to be an exiled starship captain who recruits pretty girls to fight for him as pilots in space.
No mecha? Oh right, never mind.
Well....... mini-games in of themselves aren't bad. But if they are pointless little things and are mandatory I think it is bad. I purchased Sunrider Academy, even though it is a game I normally wouldn't play. I figured I got Sunrider for free anyways, so here's some money. And I did try it, but never came close to finishing it. The stat management is just boring to me.
If the 'game' is required, then please don't make it a tedious click-fest, like in Academy.
So I would say either make it a straight Virtual Novel where you get to pick your path and the choices make real impacts on the story... OR make the game so that it doesn't take a lot of time if the player doesn't want to mess around with it. Or skip-able altogether.
Here's my idea for a new game that could be integrated into Starnova. Home Design. As in "Fully Functional Babe Lair" management. Use the money earned from working as a manager to make a better and better place for manager to live. Better place to live impresses the girls more. And you can customize the manager's home with a particular waifu in mind from conversation by having things they appreciate. The booze-loving girl would probably be more impressed by an in-home bar more than the other girls, for example. The sweet, innocent girl would be less impressed.
And the game can be streamlined in easier difficulty by having your college intern assistant do it for you. So dialog options opened by different things in the home will be there even if you choose not to do it yourself, and perhaps even add some humor as the protagonist pretends like he did it himself (if it is on easy difficulty). Synergy bonuses could be present if you have complementary items as well. Layout of items could be important too, kind of a Feng Shui thing.

I have to say, got a new computer and Asaga comically says her lines with a very significant delay compared to the other pilots. Like, 5 to 10 seconds later. Seems like she says the lines sometimes an extra time as well. So what makes it funny is she will say one of her 'target destroyed' comments, then 8 seconds later she says, "I got one captain, did you see me?" All I can think is, "Yes Asaga, we saw you." My old computer was an Asus laptop, I5 processor with no dedicated video card and windows 7. My new computer is an Acer with newere I5 and 940MX video card with Windows 10. The old computer never did this, but the new one does it constantly. And it is only Asaga. New computer can play the video cut-scenes very well on the other hand. Old computer stuttered and choked out on them. I'm not really concerned over the lagging Asaga dialog, just thought you might find it useful to hear about how the game runs differently on New versus Old.

... I'm sure Love in Space would someday love to continue the main series, but no sequel has been announced at this point in time. ... Oh noes!!! Well I can understand the decision from a business viewpoint. All eggs in one basket, and all that. The pink haired girl with have to be a young, meddling Claude for sure now.

She could be the real Claude, looking for more self-indulgent entertainment. It would be kind of funny if she appeared in every game. Kind of like that TV show from the 90's called "The Pretender", about a genius who pretends to be different people with specialized skills (Dr, lawyer, pilot, professor) and saves the day. Except instead of saving people in need, she is just entertaining herself.

Yea, I had my awakening a long time ago. But I assumed other people were smart too and couldn't all be wrong... and assumed I was crazy instead. The green eyes coordinated with the hair band thing, my other hint was that none of the other girls have green eyes. I also figure for the sake of variety one girl should have green eyes. I looked up "phrenology" to make sure it means what I think it means. Yep, it does. Yea, I was feeling comical when I did this post. Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Anime art is kind of a pictorial language.

Aki Kashiwagi (This girl is obviously tries hard to give the appearance of being a firecracker due to her red hair and wink, but deep down she is only looking for love and someone to nurture. I know the second part by her Brown Eyes.)Julie Watanabe (This girl is obviously a psychopath, obviously because she has both blue eyes and blonde hair. Or maybe she just thinks she is better than the other girls. She might turn out to be a rival to Aki. Good luck trying to figure her out before it is too late.)Mariya Yamamoto (This girl just wants to have fun. Boys are toys to her. She will turn out to be surprisingly inexperienced though, as she tosses the boy-toys away saying they are not good enough until she meets the protagonist.)Mika Hashimoto (This is the self-conscious girl. She covers her face with a victory symbol, showing she wants to give the appearance of confidence while actually having low self-esteem. Waifu of choice for player who doesn't want waifu with strong, independent personality.)Natsuki Tanabe (This girl puts up a front of being really happy, but she has a terrible secret that she is hiding from everyone. You can tell because her eyes are closed, so you can't tell if she is crazy/blue eyes or pragmatic brown eyes. She is the only girl with a green thing in her hair, hinting at color coordinated green eyes. Her terrible secret has caused her to become very deep and develop her own set of values and have a strong sense of independence.)Nemu Akimoto (she just wants sex. Pink hair hints at her being sweet candy. Blue eyes hint at potential craziness. Pose says, skip introductions and back-story, just have sex now. The heart in hair curl and innocent face show she can be made into proper waifu with cultivation.)Sasami Shimazaki (Brown hair, Brown eyes, innocent pose. This is the girl who seems like a nice dependable girl. Then when you get to know her better, you find out she is super dependable and super nice.)Waifu of choice? Too soon to know, but let's just go with ... hmm... I guess Nemu actually has breasts and some pleasant cushioning.

So the green eyed girls are fierce warriors and relish melee combat. Also strong personalities and independent. Believe in their own principles.
The brown eyed girls are pragmatic and specialize in powerful, armor-piercing kinetic weapons. Also extremely loyal and can be considered "followers". Instead of having their own principles, they defer to others and get their meaning from serving others.
The blue eyed girls are fooking crazy... Chigara, Claude, Cossette... Instead of being independent or followers, they are unpredictable wild-cards.

I was thinking of the REturn Liberation Day content. Where the captain is is remembering things that happen in flashes that haven't happened. Peoples' real life explanation for the Mandela Effect is that we intersected with another, nearby, alternate reality. Every time Claude changes something, she effectively changes reality in some small way. A small way that is now undetectable to everyone, unless they somehow remember something being different like the captain does.

So the effect is named this because people widely remember it being reported that Mandela died in prison. But then years later it is reported that he died again.j I never paid attention to political prisoners in other countries, so I don't have an opinion on it. What I do have an opinion on is the children's book, "The Berenstain Bears" is spelled incorrectly on every copy of the book. I literally remember it being spelled "Berenstein". I specifically remember puzzling over how to pronounce it. I remember saying it like BearenSTINE. My brother told me BearenSTAIN. Then I replied amusingly BearenSTEEN, as I had heard people at school say it. mandelaeffect.com/berenstein-or-berenstain-bears/Maybe this is too much before the time of younger people though. Maybe when you get older there will be something similar for you that develops. Seems like maybe this is like what happens in Sunrider.

Um... you know that Icari is Asian, right? It is not obvious, but she is anime-asian. Long dark hair. Flesh colored skin instead of milk-white. Wields katana. Basically a ninja, whether in or out of her Ryder...
EDIT: Next politically correct abortion of a topic will be, "Why is Icari so stereotypically Asian?" :/

I just finished a game where I saved Cossette but scrapped her Ryder. I didn't get any cut-scene with her at the end of the game whatsoever. I was kind of expecting to see her face pressed up against the window at the very end complaining about being forgotten. I think I would have had 4 affection with her normally, but this time it was zero affection. So by scrapping her Ryder you lose all the affection gained from previous choices.

It's not a virtual novel, but you could try "Supreme Commander" and "Supreme Commander:Forged Alliance". It requires a better computer to play than most games. The Cybran campaign was probably the most interesting story-wise. You have to listen to guidance from a cyborg brain who used to be a scientist to try to keep your faction alive by waging a guerilla war. Main idea is that battles are fought on planets in distant galaxies. It's too expensive to send armies through warp gateways, so instead a "commander" is sent through driving his mech. The commander's mech has engineering capabilities on top of combat abilities, so a base and army is then created on the spot. At the end of the tech tree it features giant godzilla type units that can destroy entire armies by themselves. And cannons so large they shoot across continents. One of the three factions has a mortar cannon that doesn't have a maximum reach. It takes ridiculous resources and time to build. I don't recommend the sequel "Supreme Commander 2". There's XCom. You can get XCom with the expansion "Enemy Within" for pretty cheap if you wait for a sale. It's turn based tactics, like Sunrider. Graphics are more realistic and very near future. Not anime or virtual novel, but if you like Sunriders battles Xcom is worth looking at. Also NOT a virtual novel though. Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries is fun. You command a squad of mechs, and you pilot one yourself. You choose what mechs you use, what pilots you hire. You choose what weapons to mount and speed and armor. It's an older game from the early 2000's, but you can get it used or download it. The game uses a pilots joystick. Some people get frustrated trying to learn the controls. Also NOT a virtual novel though...

Prepare to have your mind blown:
Note that it is stated in the game credits that any similarities in the story with real people and real things are merely coincidence.

As a high-ranking official, I'd want something around the size of the sunrider or maybe bigger. I'd want two warp drives, so there's a back-up jump capability. Being a sitting duck immediately after warp-jumping is an unacceptable vulnerability. With two engines, the ship could be capable of breaking into 2 ships. Of course it would only ever be activated once or twice in the story just for the coolness factor. Battlefield control options: Gravity Gun for manipulating enemy units, salvaging valuables, and saving friendlies. Repair ability. Top of the line Shields and Flack for shooting down incoming missiles. A medium sniper-type kinetic gun, good for taking out weak targets at extreme range, or assist fire against large targets. I know from playing Mechwarrior games that if you have a big pig of a unit, you need a long range weapon or it's difficult to get into attack range. I guess the Flack would also work as guns and for blindside attacks. When the ship is split into two, one will have the Medium sniper gun and shield generator. The other will have the Gravity Gun and Repair, with Flack cannons. Ryder bays divided between the two ships, but if they pack in like sardines they can uncomfortably fit into one of the two ships for dramatic escape possibilities. Such as letting one half of the ship be blown up while we escape in the other half, concealed by the explosion. It would basically be a mobile base to protect, support, and thereby attract the best Ryder pilots like flies to honey. Call it "The Guardian" or something like that.
