Write whatever you want, let no one stop you. I won't be writing anything tonight, however. I've hit a creative wall that must be torn down before I continue.

I just translate everything by replacing actions with their alternate era counterparts. A musket is an assault rifle and vice versa. An E-mail is a horse riding courier, etc. As for who started the narratives, it doesn't really matter that much. I was a rogue space captain committing war crimes back when I first showed up here. I joined the Tsun empire as penitence and then started working for my new overlords. That's where the narrative started for me. Pick your style and write. We'll incorporate things wherever it makes sense. I plan on conforming to Blackhead because he and I do a lot of back and forth stuff personally, but I like seeing multiple genres telling the same story.

We only have to agree to a few basic boundaries. So far nothing we wrote suggest space travel and I’d rather keep it this way. It just adds unnecessary complexity and confuses people. Oops. Alright, I can work with that in the future.

Rellek sat on the commander's seat of the T.E.S. Black Falcon, the T-STF's flagship. It made him feel in charge, powerful even. "Sir, we have arrived in the Amur system" a cheerful beta huntress reported. "Good, commence the refueling operation. Remember, we are in hostile territory. We must be careful." he said in an over the top commander voice. The huntress giggled at him. The chair's ego boost was making him look like a fool, or at least it would, if that was anywhere near out of the ordinary for him.
They were en route to Lamont Enterprises. Normally Rellek didn't go on missions, but in critical cases such as this one, he had to be nearby so his subordinates could get messages to and from him quickly on the field. That and he really wanted to be their when this target bit the dust. Their target was Francesco Lamont, Billionaire playboy. He was known for slavery, drug trade, general hedonism and douchiness, but he had money, so the law ignored him. Just thinking about it made Rellek's blood boil. If there could be an anti-Rellek, this guy was it. He just wished he could pull the trigger himself. No, decapitation would be better. Wait, first we torture him, then we...
"Sir!" shouted the delta huntress operating comms, breaking him from his increasingly malevolent thoughts. "We've picked up a distress signal! It's the Prime Minister!" "Well? What are you waiting for? Tell him we're coming for him!" He replied. They'd found the missing Prime Minister! He was sure they'd get medals for this. Maybe a resort planet to govern. Okay, maybe not that much. He'd have to bring the minister along on the mission though. The longer Lamont lived, the longer both he and Vladek would have assassins on their tails, so there was no time to return to the capitol. It was probably for the best, this way they could watch each others' backs. "Set course for Amur IV!"

There is no order to it, you just have to make sense of it as you go along. I always imagined it was a mix of the Sunrider universe and a standard sci-fi universe because I don't know much about the parts of the universe where the Sunrider has never been, and I want to take some creative liberties. I just imagine that charles is a delusional mercenary who actually thinks he's fighting the Polish Commonwealth.
If we split the thread I feel like one of the two resulting threads would get far less traffic, so I'm not sure.

Theresa stood outside the high commander's room, her resignation form in hand. It was early in the morning, still dark, and the hallway lights near her lit up automatically as they sensed her presence. She readjusted her bandages. They were way too uncomfortable. Did they make them out of sandpaper? She was just happy she could get them off soon. Skyler knocked on the commander's door. No answer. She had no idea why he sent her a message in the middle of the night, but she wasn't exactly happy about it. She knocked again, harder. Still no answer. Screw it. She let herself in.
Inside, the commander was passed out on his desk next to a half eaten pizza. Fantastic. Behind him she saw his wall covered in a web of theories and speculation. She decided to let him sleep a little longer, as Her curiosity had been peaked. She approached the back wall, grabbing a cold piece of pizza off the desk.
Rellek bolted awake, suddenly doused in water. He looked up to see Skyler smiling down at him, gently placing an empty bottle on his desk. As if he wasn't off guard enough already. "Good morning, kid." The alpha huntress welcomed him to consciousness. "What's all this?" she gestured to the wall behind him. "Oh yeah, that. I've been trying to figure out..." "I know what it is, idiot." she interrupted. "I meant you believe me. No one else does." "Yes!" He said turning to face his notes. "There's no way Harper wouldn't have known the reactor would survive that blast. There's definitely more to this than HQ is willing to believe." "You've done some work here, but your organization is garbage. May I?" she gestured to the wall. "Of course. I was hoping I could get your help on this. You and I seem to be the only people who know anything." Rellek replied. At that moment, Rellek received a notification on his holo. "What was that?" Theresa asked him out of curiosity. "A mission from the general." He held his holo out for her to see. "Think you're up for shooting a douchebag?" he asked. Skyler skimmed through the message. "Sure, this guy sounds like a special kind of asshole. Why not?"

Unraveling
In the High Commander's quarters in the middle of the night, Rellek was sure he must be the only person in HQ still awake at this hour. It had been days since the battle, a long time since he'd last talked to another human being, and it had been even longer since he'd last slept. He was obsessed, but the anger and obsession was the only thing between him and an emotional breakdown. The High Commander was a mess. He must have looked insane. He felt insane. He had pictures and notes pinned across his wall, all with strings linking them together in a conspiracy web that looked like it had been thrown together by the most disorganized private investigator to ever attempt a case. HQ was all too happy to call off the alarm, but he knew that the reactor wasn't their goal. This wasn't over. He'd heard Theresa's story. He'd heard the way Harper laughed, as if he'd known something he didn't. If he could get the authorization he'd start an inquisition and tear the universe apart looking for answers, but HQ had refused his requests. The evidence didn't add up, yet they continued to dismiss him.
He'd just sent another request begging command to let him hunt down those responsible for the attack, but they kept assuring him that it was all Harper's doing, and he was sure their response would be the same this time. Bullshit. He couldn't rule out the possibility of an inside job. At this point he didn't know who he could trust. The thought of it wore on his mind like sandpaper. He rubbed his tired, bloodshot eyes and spun around on his chair, knocking a ball of yarn to the floor in the process. At the center of his wall of unanswered questions was a single sheet of paper labeled "Edwards?"
He needed a second opinion, from someone whom he knew he could trust. He sent Skyler a private message with his holo simply stating "We need to talk."

The Aftermath
"I just found her like this on my way to the reactor." Rellek said as he gently picked up Theresa, careful not to agitate any of her wounds, even as agonizing pain shot through his injured leg for carrying the extra weight. "Can you clear a path to the medical ward?" he asked, fighting his instinctual urge to freak out. "Of course I can! Come on!" Laura exclaimed, extremely worried about her friend. The two of them raced towards the medical ward, encountering little resistance as the enemy was in full retreat.
Huntress Valentine banged frantically on the barricaded door to the medical ward "Open up! We have wounded!" No sooner had the personnel within removed the barricade than the High Commander burst into the room with Skyler in his arms. Within moments he was surrounded by nurses who quickly guided him to an operating table upon which he set the barely living alpha huntress and let the medics do their jobs. After what felt like hours, the head nurse informed Rellek and Valentine that Skyler would live. Their relief was palpable.
Once he was sure Theresa was in good hands, Rellek stood to leave the medical ward. "Where are you going?" Valentine asked. "To investigate the reactor." He replied simply. The head nurse clearly had a problem with this idea, and intervened "Oh no you don't. You're wounded. You're staying here." "I'll be back later" he argued. "I'll go with him." Laura compromised, "I'll take care of him." At this point more injured were flowing in, and the nurse really didn't have time to argue and so just waved them off.
The duo marched their way down hallway after hallway. Rellek's limping became more and more severe as they went. Laura wondered what was going on with him that he was acting like this. She pulled his arm around herself and used her body to prop him up and help him walk. "Thank you." he croaked dryly. "Glad to help, commander." she replied, rolling her eyes at his apparent stupidity "You're going to hurt yourself limping around like..." She gasped. They turned a corner to see a body in a black bodysuit lying in a pool of blood. "Amelie..." Laura's eyes began to tear up. Rellek knelt by her body. He closed her eyes with two fingers, and placed her gun on her chest, and her hands on her gun. His respect was interrupted by a gurgling sound nearby. He turned to discover the not quite dead Legion Commander Harper, blood gurgling from his throat. The monster was trying to laugh! Rellek stood over him. Anger swelled within his veins like poison. "Your gun, Ms. Valentine." he said firmly, holding a hand out to her. She complied wordlessly. He took aim with the Mk 2 rifle right between the heretic's eyes. No. He had to suffer. He turned the gun on each of his kneecaps and fired two shots. "Let's go." he said to his companion, as they left Harper behind, writhing in pain and bleeding to death.
They finally reached the reactor room after walking silently for some time. Neither one of them were taking Faye's death well, but they surveyed the damage regardless. There was barely a dent. The place was built to house a nuclear reactor. It was built strong. Surely the enemy must have known this. The reactor must have been some kind of diversion. What were they really after? Before he could finish this train of thought, they saw the body of Bellatrix Rose. Laura's eyes could not leave her friend's body. Some bastard had cut her open. She'd been mutilated. She couldn't take it anymore. She fell to her hands and knees and threw up, the anguish overwhelming her. Rellek stood, witnessing this scene of suffering, and his rage boiled over with the intensity of a thousand suns. He slammed a metallic fist into the side of the reactor armor. He needed to vent somehow, but couldn't. This was the heretic's purpose. To destroy. All of this senseless death and he didn't even know why! These traitorous heretics were evil, and he would not suffer a single one of them to live. He swore by everything he thought holy that he would never let this happen again. He was still in charge of an elite task force of huntresses, and the hunt would consume all of those responsible.

Rellek turned off his holo. The news from the general was not quite what he'd hoped. He scanned across the crowd of "soldiers" to see only men and women. They were so few, and he could see the fear in their eyes, in their hearts. He saw two soldiers in the crowd holding hands. He nearly lost himself. "I will not mince words with you," He shouted to the assembled mass. "My hopes for survival are low. I will not force any of you to fight and die here today that do not wish to, but there is more at stake here than our empire and our supremacy! Our enemy is deep within OUR lands! The stakes are our homes! Our families! I beg of you to remember what you fight for! Give it purpose, and lay down your lives, not for me, but for those you love!" He saw their fear be replaced by a wave of resigned stoicism. "Let it never be said that we backed down from a fight!" Theresa added. "Let it never be said that we faltered in our duty, and let fear rule our lives!" She could be damned inspirational when she wanted to be. "Our Empress is watching!" The high commander said to his men, "Make sure she is not ashamed, for we are her shield!"

The high commander nearly spat his drink all over alpha huntress Skyler. Knowing that course of action would bring about a swift death, he forced himself to swallow as quickly as possible, the result of which was for him to drip water out on his pants as he nearly choked to death. Real cool, Rellek. Real cool. "They what?!" He spat, finally wresting himself from death's watery grip. "How did they get past the blockade?" "Volkenrose attacked the outpost when the power was down." Theresa replied. "Poor bastards were sitting ducks." She continued "That leaves them within strike distance-" "Of the capitol." Rellek finished her sentence. "Of us." Skyler merely nodded. "As the highest ranking military officer on site, Empress help us, that makes you in charge." she explained. Rellek buried his face in his hands. They weren't prepared for this contingency. He'd just have to make do with what they had. "Very well. We'll have to intercept them. Meet me in the war room." He told her. As she left the room, he stood from his desk transitioned to the living quarters area attached to his office. He walked up to his wardrobe, flung open the doors and pulled out the uniform bearing the Tsun national colors, green, black and gold.
The High Commander stood in the war room with Huntresses Skyler, Rose, Faye, and Swift. One of his hands rested on the hilt of the sword on his belt and the other on the holo war table. All Icarian officers were equipped with swords, and encouraged to learn how to use them. "How much time do we have?" he asked the room. "A half a day, maybe less." Replied Faye, nervously running a hand through her long brown hair. "We need to get word to the general as quickly as possible." "No use." Chimed Swift, a relatively short and dark haired huntress. "We'll be overrun long before he can get here." "Is there anyone closer?" he asked. "Legion Commander 'Soul Corrupter' is the closest to us, but even he won't be able to get here in time." Answered Bellatrix Rose, the tall, aloof looking woman at the back of the room. "His men are spread out and it could take him some time to regroup, so there's no telling when he'll be able to get here." Not good. "Notify them both anyway." Rellek ordered. "What about us? What am I working with?" "Not much." Skyler replied. "Mostly irregulars. Militia and volunteers, no one with any real training. The T-STF are our only trained soldiers." The Commander exhaled all of the air from his body. This was going to be a bloodbath. "Alright, here is the plan." Rellek pointed to the map on the table. "I see five likely paths for the enemy to advance through. I want each of you and myself to take an equal portion of forces and fortify each pass. We won't be able to hold them off for long with us that spread out, so as soon as one of us makes contact, I want the rest of you to reinforce them as quickly as possible. Hopefully we can hold out until the cavalry arrives." "And what if no one gets here in time?" asked Faye. Rellek threw a wry smile her way and said "Then our deaths will be spectacular."

Beni sat across a table from the high commander, surrounded by people chatting away and enjoying a quick lunch break. He usually spent his break alone, but Rellek seemed friendly enough, so it was a nice change of pace. The commander was just out of the medical ward and still looked a little rough. "I hear I have you to thank for the new arm." Rellek stated, holding up the metal prosthetic he'd acquired for him like he was admiring a shiny new toy. "Do you do everything around here?" Rellek continued. Finally some recognition! "Almost." said Beni, beaming with pride. "Most just ignore me while I work behind the scenes." He leaned in conspiratorially "You'd be surprised how much I pick up around here when no one thinks I'm listening." Rellek was intrigued. "Alright then, how about this." Rellek began, mimicking Beni's posture. "I haven't seen the general around since I got here. What's the story with that?" Beni raised an eyebrow and answered him in a hushed tone. "That's a good question. You see, the official story is that he's off visiting the front lines, leading men, but that's not the whole truth." He continued "What I've heard is that the Commander of the Sapphire Phoenix Legion betrayed the empress, and he had to go deal with that mess personally." "Woah, really? What did he do specifically?" Rellek asked. Treason was a serious charge. He could see why that would be kept quiet. "I couldn't say." Beni replied. "That's all I've got. Sorry." While the High Commander processed this information, Beni noticed in his possession a tall bottle with a label depicting the empress wearing an ushanka and riding a bear into battle, triumphantly wielding a balalaika like a sword. "I take it you've met the minister of propaganda." He noted. Rellek lifted the bottle and half-dropped it on the table, making a loud thunk. "Yeah, it was a welcoming gift. It will look good on my shelf if nothing else." "You're not going to drink it?" Beni wondered. "I don't really drink." he explained. "I'm from the Ava Conglomerate, remember? They don't exactly promote drinking there. Drinking makes you sloppy and messes with the chain of bureaucracy and all that. If you want alcohol you have to fill out a dozen forms. It's a nightmare!" Beni chuckled. "I can see how that could be discouraging." Rellek took the last bite of his lunch and stood up to leave. "Well I better get going, Beni. Same time tomorrow?" "Why not?" He replied. The two said their goodbyes and parted.
Rellek slid into his newly rebuilt quarters and heaved a heavy sigh from the center of his diaphragm. "Now where was I?" he asked the empty room as he sat himself at his desk. Time to get back to work...
These war stories keep me entertained. I plan to keep going until I run out of ideas or someone tells me to stop. It's a lot more interesting when other people get involved, though. It gives me more to work with.

High Commander Rellek's eyes opened groggily only to be greeted with a painful blinding light. Once they adjusted to the lights and clean white walls of the Headquarter's on site medical ward, he began to take in his surroundings. The first thing he noticed was the mangled stump of his arm. Damn it. That was a good hand. He liked his hand. "Hey, kid." He was interrupted from his mourning by a familiar voice. "Congratulations on not dying on the first week of your desk job." There she was, Theresa Skyler, sitting by his bedside. If she hadn't spoken, one would think she didn't even know he was there as she absentmindedly flicked through her holo. "Theresa? Gasp!" he feigned shock "Were you worried about me?" Without looking up, Skyler calmly reached over to the machine supplying Rellek with a steady stream of pain-meds, and turned it off. Message received. "Okay! Okay, jeez. I'm sorry." She mercifully flicked it back on. "Such a harsh mistress..." He said jokingly. "Don't you forget it," She replied, finally acknowledging his presence with a glare that could make plants wither. "How many did we lose?" Rellek asked finally done sneaking around the elephant in the room. "Permanently? None." she replied. Rellek sighed in relief. "Casualties were low on both sides. They were highly trained, but so were we. Luckily we have a medical facility right here to bring our wounded to." "Did you give them hell?" he asked. "They almost turned me into paste with a grenade. I wasn't going to let that slide. I Hunted down three of the sneaky bastards myself." "Are you sure you didn't just want to avenge me?" Rellek teased her, plastering a giant shit-eating grin across his face. "Do you want to lose your other arm?" The muscular elite soldier answered his question with a question. "not really, no." He replied sheepishly. Skyler stood up "I'm going to go to training." she stated, walking towards the door. "Have fun being a cripple. Now you'll need Beni to help you masturbate." That one hurt. "You sure you don't want the job?" He threw back in a moment of insanity, and the last thing he saw of her was her middle finger sliding out through the doorway.

Love the narratives that are going on. I'm glad! What can I say? Writing crappy stories with myself as the main character is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm just glad that good ol' Blackhead is going along with it. It's been a few days since I've heard from my favorite mercenary band, though. The radio-silence gets me jumpy, Charlie.

I agree completely, with the caveat that Sunrider has tactical battles. It is truly best enjoyed though when you take the "novel" part into consideration.

Well I was just surfing the forum and came across this old fossil of a thread, and I think I'll decide to drop my two cents on whomever may be listening. I did not enjoy liberation day as I was playing it, but looking back I thought it was honestly really good. I wouldn't call the story bad, in fact I think the story is fantastic. The way I see it, the lack of choice in game wasn't entirely just laziness on the dev's part, but I think it more accurately came from them wanting to portray the fact that Kayto wasn't entirely in control of himself during LD, being a puppet of the prototypes, and you (the player) by proxy are not entirely in control of the character, which is frustrating for the player, especially coming from the legacy of MoA which gave you plenty of choice as to what to do and who to spend time with. Looking back on it, I actually think liberation day was brilliant because of it's story being uncomfortable and out of your control. Kayto isn't going to go around and talk to all the girls, he's been corrupted by Chigara. He's obsessed and going a little insane (okay more than a little). The story is good, but video games aren't books. Control is important. Players don't like when control is taken away from them. If I had to suggest changes without changing the story too much, I'd say to try to at least give the player the illusion of control, or go the other way and be more thorough when it comes to showing the player why you're taking control away so they don't feel like their control has been wrenched from them for no reason. If Liberation Day were a book I don't think anyone would be complaining. Well, almost no one.
Anyway, that's what I think, if anyone cares. Rambling over.

"We don't know why, but I've been informed that Solan assassins have recently started picking off high priority military targets from many different nations with no clear discernible pattern." High Commander Rellek addressed the Alpha huntress before him. "We need to be ready for the possibility that we could be next. I want active counter-" "Get down!" the huntress interrupted him with a lunge and wrestled him to the floor just before the crack of gunfire shattered the window beside them. "Are you alright?" he asked, trying hard to maintain his composure. "Yeah, I'm fine. Get to cover!" she replied. As soon as his subordinate released him, Rellek dove for his metal reinforced desk, grabbing the sidearm he'd left within. No sooner than he had his bearings, he heard the distinctive sound of an explosive hitting the floor. "Grenade!" he heard his companion shout. Time slowed to a near stop. He looked back and forth between the grenade and the woman who'd saved his life mere moments ago. In this confined space he knew that grenade would vaporize anything in the room not protected by a thick sheet of metal plating. He made his choice. He charged out of cover, against the recommendations of his savior, and dove straight for the armed grenade. He felt his hand wrap around the cold exterior of the explosive device, and flung it as hard as he could back out of the window. Too late. His vision went white, then rapidly dark again. His ears rang, his arm felt mutilated, and his entire body felt like it was on fire. Apparently he'd thrown the grenade far enough, because the dead don't feel pain. That was a comforting thought. The last thing he could hear before falling into unconsciousness was the faint sound of gunfire and panicked shouting as battle ensued...

Alpha Huntress Valentine, It is with heavy heart that I must decline your request. It is simply too dangerous and I do not know that you won't end up sharing her fate. I do empathize with you, and it would be a shameful waste to leave her there. If it is any consolation, I will try to make sure you are present when we do recover her. For now you must be patient, and ready yourself for when the time is right. I never knew Ms. Lawson, but I'm sure that doing something rash and risking your life over her now is the last thing she'd want you to do. If there is anything else I can do for you, all you need to do is ask.
Sincerely, W. Rellek
Field Commander Skyler, First of all, if there is any consolation I can offer in regards to Ms. Lawson, please let me know. Second, I apologize for you having to deal with the general. From here on out I should act as a buffer between you, so to speak. It's a situation I hope you'll find beneficial, as the general is not as forgiving as I am. I will be arriving at HQ in a few hours time, at which point we'll finally meet face to face and I will begin to oversee your training personally. I'm sure you'll warm up to me in no time. As for orders in the meantime, I have a personal request for the rest of Beta Squad C in regards to the hostilities that recently broke out between the Asagans and the Avans, I want someone to dig up everything they can find on the mercenary Volkenrose and have it delivered to the desk in my quarters, and I want you to get me a hot cup of coffee. See you soon.
High Commander Rellek.
Rellek hit the send button on his holo and looked up just in time to see the capitol out of the window of his shuttle. He could tell getting his second in command to warm up to him was going to be harder than he thought. He should have expected as much, after all, she is Icarian born and raised. Overall he got the feeling that he was leaving one battlefield and entering another, in a way. He chuckled to himself, luckily he was alone... people usually give him strange looks when he does that. He didn't even like coffee, but he figured bossing her around will either earn her respect, or a cup of hot coffee to his crotch. Either way, he'd know a little more about the resident "terror goddess" than he did before, and that was a win in his book.

My dearest Commander Skyler, My apologies for not making myself clear. Your orders were to remain in the capitol and finish training. It appears that Squad C didn't get the memo, as I've heard that not only have they abandoned their posts, tipped our hand too early, and lost a valuable human life in the process, but also they didn't seem to understand that we wanted their leaders brought in ALIVE. Whether you had anything to do with this total failure or not, it reflects poorly on you, me, the supreme general, and even Icari herself. I understand that we all want the war to end as quickly as possible, but without discipline and restraint, we will only encounter more loss. I expect better in the future. I want you to send Squad C to serve as bodyguards for our allies in the Avan Conglomerate as probation. Don't let me down. Now I must prepare a letter to our late Ms. Lawson's loved ones, and a speech for her state funeral.
Your commanding officer, Rellek.
Supreme General Blackhead, I would like to take full responsibility for the task force's failure and the tragic loss of life that you have no doubt heard of. As their new superior it may take them some time to trust me, so I will do my best to make myself understood in the future. I am willing to pay for Ms. Lawson's funeral out of my own pocket, though regrettably, her body could not be recovered. That is all.
Ever loyal, T-STF Rellek

I am honored to be a new citizen of our glorious empire and to lead this new rad af team. I will be returning to the capitol immediately and leaving the remainder of my forces in Commander Skyler's clearly capable hands. I will enclose a second message in reply to Field Commander Skyler as well, and I look forward to dealing with her directly in the future. All hail the God-Empress! P.S. does this promotion come with a cool title? High commander of the T-STF? Lord Inquisitor (that sounds intense.)? High Overseer? Overseer? T-STF Dispatcher? etc? Ever loyal, T-STF High Commander? Rellek. Field Commander Skyler, I am going to be your direct link to the Capitol from now on, and while you may not like it now, that's just the way it's going to be. I have my reservations about this cozy new position away from the front lines, but I promise I will never order you to do something I wouldn't lead the charge on myself. The Claudians are cunning, and should not be underestimated. I have intel that Claude herself is very dangerous. Be careful and stay alive before anything else, and I'll make you a heroine by the end of this war. It will be an honor to work with you. For the Empress's glory! Sincerely, "Kid" Rellek

Aye, Supreme General. I will commence my attack immediately. Their numbers are few, but their morale appears unwavering. We cannot hope to rout them or force their surrender. Might I humbly request a modest field promotion (perhaps as an auxiliary general?) and a few more auxiliaries to my command? I could use reinforcements to tear up Claudian infrastructure and supply lines. Starving soldiers may be more amenable to our goddess's mercy (They don't fight too well either).
Praise the Tsun!
Sincerely, Auxiliary Captain Rellek.

All hail the Empress!

It is now clear that the only end to this war lies in total extermination. I will fight on until I claim either victory or death in the name of our great and merciful tsun goddess, so that one day maybe I might be worthy of her dere! PRAISE THE TSUN!

General, it appears the wills of the Claude aligned have been thoroughly broken. Their last soldier isn't even fighting us. Forgive me if this is out of line for a mere auxiliary, but perhaps we should change targets, or dare I say it, attempt to negotiate an end of the waifu war. Our enemies lay broken before us. Perhaps we should offer them the opportunity to surrender unconditionally to the Tsun Empress and her allies...
...that is, unless the war is hungry for more blood.
