Liberation day is to me a mixed bag.
The music and combat are better. The characters are by and large just as likable.
But it feels almost painfully like the middle chapter of a story, it was relatively short and linear and the ending would be soulcrushingly depressing if I didn't think it would be altered or undone in the next game.
There will be people that are angry or hurt over this and I can understand where they're coming from. I'm going to try to remain calm and wait to see how the dev team react. I've loved everything else they have done. They've earned a little patience.

Well where to start? That the ending sucked or that I feel like I've lost faith in the Love in Space Developers? And for f*cks sake I completed the game in 4 hours! That is not okay. I expected to buy a full game, not a ripoff. Another thing if they try to sell the next game because they think this is a success. I wouldn't buy it. They messed up, they have a chance to fix it. I just hope they try to.

Yes I'll wait too. But If they don't care then they don't deserve any of our money.

Hi guys, Something I want to try is to focus our experience with the release build into questions for the team over at: forum.loveinspace.moe/thread/129/sunrider-liberation-day-community-feedbackI would really appreciate it if you could help me build what exactly we want to know as fans of the series, and where our expectations have not been met so that we can move forward as a team. Lets try this and get everything on the table and then we can decide how we ultimately feel and what we can do about it. Thanks for taking the time to consider.

Bigboss you sound really entitled to be honest. And 4 hours? Were you skipping dialogue/playing below captain level? I have a friend who beat it in 5 hours on casual, another who is only about half way done on captain after 4 hours and me who beat it in about 7.5 hours on captain. There are others say it took them about 8 hours on captain. Not trying to shame anyone for playing on lower difficulties but if you do you can't expect the game to last the full length... $25 (or $10 if a patreon backer) for what is essentially 15-25 hours of some of the most in depth gameplay a mecha based TRPG ever got (including FA and MoA considering those parts were given free) isn't something to whine about and talk about how they don't deserve any money.

To be honest, below 8 hours in captain is really hard for me to believe too. I know I'm a meticulous player, but really, besides the first battle (and maybe the fourth and eighth?) there has been no one that has taken me under an hour. The VN part itself is a tad short, but unless you read really fast you got at least one hour of it too, more if you're of the "waiting for the voice to end" type.
I suppose if you were beta-testing and knew exactly what to expect and how to get over it, ok. But from scratch? I would put it in around 10 hours in captain.

I see myself playing at least a few hours per mission when I get to the point that I feel confident on Captain.
Even fast forwarding enemy turns on low difficulties, I think I put half an hour in per mission even with using spread vanguard religiously.

While being an extreme fan of the series I am confronted with a major shock and my faith is truly shaken I will wait to hear Samu, this feels like a mistake

I'm just a fast reader. I read a lot of books. Well that's something that the game can't control. Some people can beat Dark Souls in 50 minutes without skips or glitches but that doesn't make it a 50 minute game, or not worth $60 when the average person takes 40-70 hours on their first playthrough. I think the average clear time on captain for people is going to be about 8-9 hours, on admiral it is going to be 10+. I'm not saying the ending was good either, and I didn't like the linearity of the game either. Or how the choices you make never really come to fruition in the way that you would expect them to. But a lot of work went into the series. The gameplay, the music, the voices. I don't think anyone would be this upset if it wasn't a series that was beloved to them and maybe I'm just able to take a step back and see that. Which is why I don't understand all the people wishing ill of the company, rather than accepting that maybe they took a wrong turn or got ahead of themselves (they are still in their infancy as a company) and simply looking forward to their continued growth and development in the future. Also, for those that don't know, they have stated that they do not intend for this to be the last Sunrider, and maybe not even the second last Sunrider, and that this is the equivalent of a cliffhanger at the end of a season of an anime or TV show and that all of our affection and morality ratings will be carried over into the next game to start having greater effect. The only thing that can prevent us from seeing what their true vision of a resolution is, is us deciding not to support them just because we lost faith over a single cliffhanger. There are ways within the story to fix or resolve what has happened. I say we wait to see what happens next before everyone goes jumping the gun. People need to take some time to sit back and cool off after what has happened and wait to see what comes next. If you are concerned, just delay your purchase of the next game and see how it shapes up first.
