I recently bought Shining Song Starnova for the Mac through Denpasoft. However, despite multiple attempts to download and unzip it, I can not get the game to open.
I'm not very computer-savy, so here is every response I got while trying to open the game.
Using default unzip program(Archive Utility) I get Error 1- Operation not permitted.
Using an alternate unzip program (Dr.Unarchiver), it unpacks, but the app closes as quickly as it opens with no pop-up.
If I unzip the download with the mac terminal, it unpacks, but an attempt to open it simply responds with a pop-up saying “The application 'ShiningSongStarnova' can't be opened.”

Could you let me know what Mac operating system (OSX) you're running?

Thanks for the update, we believe we have identified an issue with some of the permissions on the files. A new build with this corrected is just being compiled and should be uploaded fairly soon.
Once this happens there should be an email that will go out from Denpasoft which notifies you that a new version is available, I'll also drop a message here once I've heard that has happened (just in case it ends up in a spam folder or delayed) and then we can take things from there.

Sorry about not getting back to you, the confirmation that it had been uploaded came shortly after I called it a night.
I'll get this escalated with the support team and will let you know when I have something new, Macs and their interactions aren't exactly a forte of mine.

Could you try a fresh download and then using terminal navigate to the download location?
Once there use: md5 Starnova100-mac.zip
The md5 should then be: 41c9bec9c2387bd30ac2ae9e9845a884
Could you share the output?

Um, I'm not computer-savvy, so it is possible I did this wrong. I'm not sure what you are trying to ask...
Here is what I got with the terminal.
Last login: Thu Jul 26 23:48:04 on ttys000 Jakes-MacBook-Pro:~ jakevaughan$ md5 /Users/jakevaughan/Desktop/Starnova100-mac.zip MD5 (/Users/jakevaughan/Desktop/Starnova100-mac.zip) = 41c9bec9c2387bd30ac2ae9e9845a884 Jakes-MacBook-Pro:~ jakevaughan$

That's brilliant thanks, md5 in this instance is for checking to see if the download is becoming corrupt during the download.
Now with your fresh copy and the confirmation that it has not become corrupt, can you try decompression again followed by running the game?

Unzipping and booting up the game still results in the error message - " '%@' can’t be found." when I try to boot up the application.

All right. So, it has been a few days. When I attempted to boot up the game and got the prior error message a few days ago, I had put the application in the trash, but had not emptied the bin. Today, I was getting impatient waiting for a response, so I pulled the game idly out of the bin just to try to open the application again. When attempting to open the game, nothing would load, but I did not get the error message. For that reason, I forced my mac to reload the game, and it actually booted up to the main menu. I closed the game, and opened it again just to see if it would work again. It did. While I am not certain if anything beyond works as it is currently too late to start playing, it does appear to be working now. I'll post another message later to say if it continues to work.

Apologies for going silence, I've been on holiday for the last couple of days and my cellular signal hasn't been great.
We've been having difficulty replicating your issue following the fix that was deployed although it sounds like you've found quite an unusual way to get it to start regardless. Let us know if you get any additional exception messages and we'll look into them further.

All right. Just a quick update. Things seem to be working as intended from my end now. As of right now, I have played through the section included in the demo and part of the second chapter without any further incident.
