Here's a hug for sweet Sola. I suppose it is about time I went home to Ava for a visit. I am still an Avan citizen after all, and there is a long standing alliance. Anything more than that would be treason, and it would take extreme circumstances or quite a bit of convincing to risk that.
I might start up book 2 of the narrative one of these days, if people are still interested in seeing that stuff.

I find it amusing that the Icarian giant ate Claude whole and then more or less fell asleep. I find it relaxing that we're all just chipping away at Chigara and Cosette now. Apparently we don't like names that start with C.

I couldn't agree more, Somasam. Due to the nature of wanting to avoid branching story lines, I assume Cosette just wanders off into space never to be seen again. I think this would be a disservice. I want Cosette to help me out beyond just showing up for one fight and then disappearing into space.

I like Cosette well enough, just not as waifu material. That gives me the creeps. Sick and twisted she may be, we share the goals of an independent neutral rim and that's worth cooperation. platonic cooperation. With a restraining order yeah.

I have Asaga ranked as my number two pick, just behind Ava. Otherwise, I agree. Asaga is great, and she's even a queen! Kayto becoming royalty (if not sovereign of the entire neutral rim) at the end of his adventures would be fitting, but Ava is just too strong of competition. On top of that, when Ava rejected Kayto, Chigara swooped in while he was emotionally vulnerable and Asaga missed her chance (as scummy as that would be). Who knows if Asaga will get another chance...

Meant to post this story earlier, but I figured there was no rush with so many people for the most part busy.
Oh Snap:
After the battle the command center was buzzing with activity. Spirits were high. Corlach had fallen and Claude had finally been eliminated by Theresa 'Godslayer' Skyler. Not bad for a day's work.
With his work completed, Rellek sat by his sister away from most of the commotion, watching important officers finishing their duties and tightening the empire's grip on Corlach. Most of them, anyway. The newly appointed Commander Leroi had liberated a buffet of food from Corlach's stores. Other commanders were attempting to schmooze with an obviously disinterested supreme general, and Cassandra would not stop glaring at Commander "Soulcorruptor", apparently still upset about how her mercenary company ended.
Amidst the commotion, Commander Ryan wasted no time before slipping out unnoticed. He made his way down the bloody walkways of Corlach, faint gunfire in the distance as the last groups of claudian resistance were snuffed out. Claude was out of the picture, and the defenders of Corlach performed their roles admirably. They didn't have a choice of course. A dozen soldiers rushed by him as he walked alone, no doubt off to find more heretics to kill. He thought it barbaric, but it would all be over soon enough. Once he'd made it far enough away from command, he pressed a single button on his wrist.
Within seconds, all of the soldiers in Corlach who received Ryan's transmission had turned their weapons on their former comrades, opening fire and killing without mercy.
Casimir had set up his cannon on a nearby hill waiting for his orders to come. Now it was time. With the enthusiasm of a lunatic he eagerly spun his artillery around to face the new command center. It was a clear shot. However, just as he slammed his fist into the fire button, a katana hacked into his recoil compensator. "Sophia, no!" He shouted as if someone had just killed the one thing he loved. The shot flew wide, though not entirely missing it's target. The command center only took a glancing hit, probably only killing half of the people inside! This was unacceptable, even ignoring the fact that some black-clad bitch had jammed a sword into his Sophia! He jumped down from his seat, ignoring the newcomer and diving for his tools. He had to fix Sophia!
He didn't make it far. The huntress shot the toolbox in front of the demolitionist effectively grabbing his attention. He stood up and raised his hands above his head in surrender, scowling loathingly at her. With the threat more or less neutralized, the unnamed huntress spoke into her holo. "Skyler, we're fucked..."

Theresa stepped into Claude's personal quarters. She quickly surveyed the room with the efficiency of a trained elite, revealing it to be a dirty pink nightmare. Underwear littered the floor and furniture, empty food containers spread strategically around the room, and it was all wrapped in a vomit inducing shade of pink. Right in the center of this chaos, though, stood her quarry.
Claude Trielo was standing with her back to Theresa, leaning over a table laden with candles, random objects which Theresa could only identify as junk, and in the center of it all, a framed picture of Kayto Shields.
The Huntress drew her Mk4 Heavy pistol from her side. The Mk4 wasn't a common choice of sidearm, because although it utilized unrivaled stopping power, it's exceptional recoil made it difficult to aim if you weren't the great Theresa Skyler. Her orders were to recover Claude alive, but she wasn't about to die to make that happen. Taking a step forward, she immediately tripped on a giant pink dildo which seemed to suddenly appear out of nowhere, and hit the ground hard.
Claude turned to face Skyler, her expression smug rather than surprised, as if she'd known she was there all along. Theresa aimed and fired, the loud boom echoing loudly throughout the chamber. As the bullet left the chamber of her gun and flew into the open air, the world seemed to freeze in place as time itself ground to a halt.
She tried to move but her efforts were in vain as Claude casually walked towards her from across the room, stopping to nonchalantly flick the bullet that could have brought her death moments earlier out of the air.
Claude leaned over Skyler. "Don't you know you could have hurt poor Claude?" Theresa could not move her mouth to respond. "It was a rhetorical question. Running a country for a while was fun, but I was starting to get bored anyway. Tell your empress that she wins." She turned to walk away, a faint glow beginning to emanate from her body. "Oh, and Theresa, I'll be watching you." She said with a wink as she bathed the room in a blinding light and a universe rending hum, and when the light faded she was gone.

Blasphemy, this war was over before it even began! I was on team Ava to begin with, but I have to respect Icarian warrior culture. Disciplined and at times nearly fanatical, it's either join them or be torn apart by them. I chose the former. Plus it came with sick promotions!

Here goes nothing. I'll leave much of the battle open for others to fill in the gaps later if they so wish. This event deserves many a post.
The Siege of Corlach
"FIRE!" Casimir heard his commander shout. That word was like music to his ears. He excitedly pulled a HE shell off the munitions rack. He'd etched "Hey Claude, catch!" into this one. It was a very special shell for a very special occasion. He loaded it into Sophia, his artillery, and fired it at the fortress with a maniacal laugh.
Leroi stood proudly in front of the walls of Corlach. He did not waver as Claudians fired down on him and his fellows from atop the walls. His faith in the goddess was absolute, and he wore it as his armor. No bullet could pierce his faith. Suddenly the ground shook with a deafening explosion as the walls before him crumbled and fell before the Empress's might. Claudians fell from the walls and were crushed beneath the rubble. It was game time. Leroi put on his war face. "INTO THE BREACH!"
"The Emerald Phoenix Legion takes the walls!" Commander Ryan shouted to his men on the ground, his weapon raised high above his head. A cheer rose up in response. "We stand on the edge of victory! Our goddess is watching, make sure she is not ashamed!" Another cheer rose up from below. Onward to victory!
Meanwhile...
The Claudian generals all stood around the war table, Bickering amongst each other and shouting orders to their field commanders. You could cut the tension with a knife. Victory was uncertain. If they won this battle, they would have the bulk of the Icarian army in their hands. If they lost, it would likely be their lives on the line.
A metal canister fell from the ceiling onto the war table, and began to spew smoke out into the room. Claudian Imperial guards drew their weapons only to be gunned down in an instant as black clad T-STF agents equipped with infra-red vision goggles flooded the room. Once all threats were neutralized, they began pointing their weapons at the generals and forcing them to the ground. Once the room was secure and the panic had subsided, Alpha Huntress Theresa Skyler stepped out of the smoke, pulling infra-red goggles off of her face and putting a hand to her ear. "Rellek, we've secured their generals and decapitated their chain of command." she spoke into comms, her gun pointed at a general sneering up at her from the floor to keep him from trying anything. "Good work, Skyler." the high commander replied through her earpiece. "I'll inform the supreme general. Now you just have one more job. You know what to do. Good luck." "I won't need it, kid." Skyler oozed confidence, stepping towards the door to Claude's sanctum.

"Looks like we've found a spectacle." The High Commander told his sister. They had just arrived at the forward military base and had gone looking for Skyler only to find her and Valentine surrounded by a leering crowd in the training room. Theresa was in the process of explaining to Valentine just how insanely strong she was. "How can she lift that much? Is she even human?" Cassandra remarked. "Yeah, probably." he returned flatly. "Here, take a seat" He grabbed two previously idle chairs and sat down at the side of the room where no one had noticed their presence yet.
"Theresa you're fucking hot!" Shouted a drunk man in the middle of the crowd. Rellek's palm met his face. "Look at that drooling lunatic. How'd he get alcohol anyway? We're on the front lines!" "Someone sounds jealous..." his sister teased, a smug smile displayed across her face. "Excuse me?" He replied indignantly. "She is your type... You always had a thing for the girls who could break you in half. The other one isn't far off either." she elbowed him in his recently injured ribs. He winced, despite trying not to show how much it hurt. "I'm their superior officer." He said incredulously. "That would be highly unethical!"
"Unethical? You're telling me you were assigned to a squad of sexy assassin chicks in tight leather outfits and you're not going to even try? You're in a real life wet dream! Chivalry is dead. Get laid."
"Why can't you be like a normal sibling and avoid the topic of my sex life like it was the plague?" Rellek wondered aloud. "You're real uptight for a goofball, you know." She said, standing up. "I'm going to go and tell her you have a massive crush on her if you won't." She said with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a slightly mocking tone. Rellek grabbed her arm before she could walk away. "That's not going to happen." he told her sternly, trying to make sure there was no chance of misunderstanding.
"Fine. Have it your way then." she said, sounding as if he'd drained all of the fun out of her day. "Either way, I'm going to go join in on the fun." she began to walk towards the crowd. "I'm taking bets!" she shouted, leaving the High Commander to think.

The Relleks stepped around a dead body lying next to the door out of the warehouse. Alas, poor Erik. He had known him well once. "Erik?" Cass adressed the body. It didn't answer. "You know how I said our numbers were low?" she asked. "Yes..." Rellek didn't like where this was going. She confirmed his fears. "It was just Erik and I left. Looks like he just bled out now, so..." Her head dropped. "Try not to let it get to you." He said to her. "You did your best and that's all you can do for them." He could see her trying to convince herself that he was right. He was still working on that himself. Command was not for the faint of heart.
"So who was the Commander of the Legion you were facing off against?" The High Commander changed the subject, pulling out a holo to inform them of the status of their recent mercenary problems. "They called him Soulcorruptor." She answered. Great. "When someone's name is 'Soulcorruptor', you don't pick fights with them. You run away." He sent the message to his fellow Icarian. "You think I'm some kind of coward? I'm not running away from a fight if I don't have to." That was something they usually had in common, so he couldn't really argue with her, and instead conceded the point.
By this point they had arrived at the vehicle he had come here in. "Hop in." he told her. "Shotgun!" She shouted excitedly, despite no one being around to dispute her claim. Rellek placed himself in the driver's seat and turned on the built in comms system. He had to call Theresa and the general and inform both of them he was returning to duty, lest they start sending out search parties.

Rellek stood in front of the warehouse his sister said she'd be in. Officially it was a subsidiary of Lamont Enterprises, but it now lays abandoned. Mostly abandoned, anyway. Knowing it's owner, he shuddered to think of what this place used to be used for. He limped up to the metal door and banged on it three times, waiting for an answer.
Moments later he could hear someone on the other side of the door fiddling with the heavy lock. The door swung open, nearly hitting him in the face. As he was still off balance from the door opening so violently, he offered little resistance when he was quickly dragged inside. It took his eyes a second to adjust after the door slammed behind him, but standing before him was a tall, fit woman dressed in light combat armor, with what looked like an entire armory strapped to her body like a walking tank. She had brown eyes, thick brown hair, and on top of that, she was his spitting image. "Hey bro!" she exclaimed. "How've you been? It's been forever!" she continued, not giving him any time to respond. "Oh my god! What happened to your arm? Who hurt you? I'll frickin kill em. I hope you killed em. If not I-" "Cassie!" Rellek interrupted her. "Hello. Yes it has been a while. I've been fine. They are dead, and I'll tell you about the arm later, but for now you said you were in danger. Let's address that first."
Cassandra filled him in on what happened to his old mercenary company "Forlorn Hope". He still thought that name was really good. He did name it himself after all. Apparently, they had been hired by the Claudians to harass Icarian troops marching towards their capital. This was going well at first, but when the Claudians, due to an ever dwindling treasury, started paying them in IOUs and empty promises. This lead to a division in the ranks believing that they would be better off joining the winning side of the war. Ultimately, the company turned on itself, and now their numbers are insignificantly low.
"So you're telling me I missed the violence?" He asked her. "Yeah. I can handle a fight, but I'm in a bad spot now." she stated. "Alright then. I can help." He told her. "Come with me."

General, I am honored to have your approval, and will share the good news with the others. I am also glad to officially have Verbeck on the team. She's more than proved her worth already. I will be glad to see the fall of Corlach alongside you and this team.
I have received dire news, however. I left the mercenary company I used to run, before signing on with the Tsun Empire, in the capable hands of my sister, Cassandra Rellek. Earlier today I received a message from her requesting my aid in dealing with a mutiny of sorts. I have no doubt that she can take care of herself, but it would put my mind at ease if I was given leave to go check up on things. It would only take me a few days at most. If I am granted this boon, I will do my best to make sure it does not interfere with the mission.
Either way, I'll see you in Corlach. Ever loyal, High Commander Rellek.

HQ had ordered Theresa not to give Lamont to the enemy, and instead to kill Rellek before the Claudians could get any valuable secrets out of him. Screw that. She wasn't about to let the Claudians or HQ tell her what to do. "That uniform is fucking sexy, by the way" Lamont opened his obnoxious mouth. "When I'm free again, what do you say to letting me get you out of it? Name your price, I can pay it." Wishing she'd gagged him before taking him to the exchange zone, she warned him, "I will shoot you if you don't keep your worthless mouth shut." "That's so hot." her words only encouraged him. Much more of this and she would want to shoot herself. This man clearly had nothing but sleaze hidden under his thick outer shell of sleaze. How did he function in society?
She shoved Francesco onto the roof she was told to bring him to. She was told to come alone, the roof was plain, flat, and there was nearly no cover available. It was a trap as expected. The Claudians were waiting for her already, with a helicopter ready to take off. Standing in the helicopter was an agent in a pink bodysuit, with a gun held to the High Commander's head. Immediately upon seeing her, he visibly relaxed. Damn right he better be happy to see her, she was going to save his ass.
"Send him over." Barked the woman holding her boss hostage. "Alright, here you go." She removed the bonds from Lamont's hands and pushed him over. "Fuck yeah! See you later bitch! Woo!" he flipped her both middle fingers as he climbed into the helicopter. "Alright, get us out of here" Said the woman using Rellek as a meat shield. The helicopter began taking off with Rellek still on board. She saw this betrayal coming miles away, and planned accordingly. She had an ace up her sleeve, so to speak.
Francesco slapped the assassin's ass, who dropped Rellek in surprise. Exactly according to plan. He'd slapped every woman's ass he could like it was a compulsion. No sooner had Rellek hit the floor than Verbeck fired a silenced shot through the pink-clad rip-off's chest from a nearby rooftop.
With that threat gone, the Alpha Huntress dashed across the rooftop towards the helicopter, leaping from the roof and grabbing onto the skids before she could fall to her death. Another combatant leaned out of the helicopter door with her gun drawn. Before she could get a shot, Theresa grabbed her by the foot and pulled her out of the helicopter. She managed to somehow grab Skyler's leg while she fell, but the huntress merely kicked her off and climbed up into the aircraft.
She came face to face with Lamont again, whom she did not hesitate to knock unconscious with a righteous punch to his jaw. Moving on, she stepped over Rellek towards the cockpit. "Hang in there, kid." She drew the pistol from her hip and pointed it at the pilot's head. "Bring us down or I paint this thing's interior with your brains."

Meanwhile...
Rellek sat in front of the computer terminal they'd set up in the T-STF forward base, the screen a blank void showing his ghostly reflection. He looked tired. He always looked tired. The black circles under his eyes darkened the shadows left by his overgrown dark-brown hair. The anxiety too much to bear, his head fell into his hands. He was in the dark not only literally but also figuratively. His team was in danger and he had no way to know what was going on. They couldn't bring any communication devices, so he didn't have a clue whether they were still alive or not.
They'd left the prime minister with a transport they'd run into by chance. Rellek had insisted Vladek stay with them, but he'd made up his mind to risk it and travel back alone. Hopefully he'd make it back in one piece. The High Commander was alone, and he figured the only way he'd know whether his team had survived or not is whether they came back in through the door or the less than friendly assassins did. Honestly he'd be devastated. Theresa in particular had grown on him, like a belligerent symbiont. She, Beni and Laura were the only people he knew well enough in the empire to want to call friends. Maybe he'd have to talk to the general sometime, he seemed to have his head on straight enough. His thoughts had fallen off track as his mind wandered. He pulled his head up to see the reflection of pink bodysuits in the screen in front of him. Claudians. Three of them. Future corpses. Probably their version of the T-STF. His fears for his comrades all but confirmed, his heart all but broken, he stood and grabbed his blade.
He sidestepped immediately, spinning around to face the assassin that had just stabbed his computer with a katana while drawing his sword. In one fluid motion he dug his sword into the back of his would-be assassin, then flicked her blood into the eyes of one of her allies. He was outnumbered, he'd have to pretend to be stronger than he was. Break their morale. This had to be dramatic. He roared his hatred from deep within his diaphragm as he drew his sword over his head and brought it down on the next enemy to lunge at him. She blocked his swing, but he kept swinging over and over, knocking her to the ground and overpowering her. "Heretic scum!" he shouted as he plunged his sword into her stomach, only for a chair to collide with his back. "Rraaagh!" He spun around and delivered an iron backhand to the third assassin, with enough force to knock her off her feet. The wall in front of him crumbled under the force of a tower of metal entering the room.
Rellek ducked as a huge metallic fist slammed into the wall where his head used to be. Kryskan experimental powered armor. The Kryskans themselves had never used them in the field. He dove to the side as another armored fist nearly crushed his skull. How did they even get their hands on one of those? He grabbed the blade of his sword in his hands as he sidestepped another blow, slamming the cross-guard of his sword into the helmet of his attacker, knocking them off balance even as the blow itself could not pierce the armor. He grabbed the hilt again with his slightly cut organic hand and used his metal one to direct the tip of his sword into the shoulder joint of the armor, which was protected against bullets, but not so much against a nimble blade. Grunting from the exertion, his point found purchase, but the wearer seemed only annoyed. They grabbed his sword and snapped it in half like you would snap a twig. Shit. He roared in anger at the loss of his sword. Rellek turned to bury the hilt of his broken blade into an attacker approaching from behind, leaving it within her before returning his focus to the juggernaut. He shoved the wall of metal backwards. "I AM" He slammed his metallic fist into it's helmet to keep it off balance. "A GOD" He shoved it again, slamming it against the back wall, shouting inches away from it's face. "OF BATTLE!"
His own broken sword sprouted from his stomach. Tears sprung from his eyes, he didn't bother wasting the effort to hold them back, it would just distract him more. He shoved the titan to the ground with one hand as he turned to meet his new aggressor. "Losing blood... Give me yours!" He threw a furious volley of punches at her. She deflected most of his blows, but she couldn't keep up with him in the end. He landed blow after blow, no holds barred. He aimed for weak spots. Armpits, reproductive organs, the open wound in her stomach, it didn't matter. Rellek didn't owe these heretics an honorable fight. "I will show you PAIN!" he growled, pummeling his assailant's face with his fists until a robotic leg launched him off of her from behind.
He crumpled to the floor on the other side of the room. Something inside him was broken. Probably several somethings. He struggled to get to his feet. It didn't work, he could only get to his hands and knees before falling over again. Why was he always getting hurt? All he could do was watch helplessly and accept that he'd lost everything while a pair of pink clad legs walked towards him, and the last thing he saw was a hot pink boot rapidly approaching his face before darkness.
Skyler went to the commander's quarters to report her success and to introduce Verbeck, but instead found a crime scene. Two dead women in pink leather bodysuits, a hole in the wall, blood everywhere, a broken sword, and a disconnected cybernetic arm in the middle of the room with a crumpled piece of paper in it's hand. "Oh hell no." The situation was already clear to her. She pried the note from her boss's arm, hastily reading it's contents. "Did you know about this?" She asked Verbeck accusingly. "I have no idea what's going on! I promise." Megan assured her. "What is this?" she asked. "They grabbed our boss while we were grabbing yours," Theresa said, "and they want us to give Lamont back." She turned to march out of the room, full of purpose. "No one outmaneuvers me."

The Plan
The High Commander, the First Alpha Huntress, and the beta huntress team had set up a temporary base in Claudian land, not far from Lamont Tower. Rellek was going to check up on the huntresses preparing for the mission only to walk into a room full of huntresses dressed in various amounts of lingerie and fetish wear. He could only stare blankly at the scene with which he had been presented. The only thing that escaped his lips was a flat "What." "These are our disguises" Explained one beta huntress who had exchanged her leather bodysuit for latex. "Don't you like them?" she asked, stepping uncomfortably close to him, pressing her barely clothed body up against his. Always calm, cool and collected Rellek suavely responded with "Uh buh whuh?" to the amusement of all in the room. All but one, anyway. "Seducing the high commander will not earn you a spot on alpha squad, Cardinal." Skyler said entering the room behind him. "Right, kid?" she shot him a glare that would stop a raging bull in it's tracks. "No! Of course not." He nervously assured her. The beta huntress "Cardinal" retreated back away from him, having caught Theresa's ire. He'd have to watch that one. "So why is my task force nearly naked?" He asked Skyler "I thought you were going to disguise yourselves as security or something." "Too obvious, and this way we can use our target's weaknesses against him. Lamont will not expect the slaves to be a threat." She explained with thinly veiled resent. "Where will you hide your weapons then?" He wondered. "Do I want to know?" He asked, wary of the answer. "We won't need to bring any." Cardinal chimed in. "We can take weapons from the security forces if we need them." she continued. "So you're going in naked and unarmed." The commander stated. "I have a bad feeling about this." "Hey, we're the best of the best." Cardinal bragged. "This will be easy..."
