All right then, I deployed a unit equipped with the MK1's to chance after our gate crashers since we had a breach, also sent a line to our forces behind it as well. As we speak special bio sensor landmines that can detect if someone is from our land or forces or not all being prepared as well. So any of those Cluadians that breached the gate will be in for a rude uplifting if you get my meaning. We should also have the capital get ready to deploy the Ion Cannon Satellite sytems we recently confiscated from the Chigarians forces as well.

I am honored to be a new citizen of our glorious empire and to lead this new rad af team. I will be returning to the capitol immediately and leaving the remainder of my forces in Commander Skyler's clearly capable hands. I will enclose a second message in reply to Field Commander Skyler as well, and I look forward to dealing with her directly in the future. All hail the God-Empress! P.S. does this promotion come with a cool title? High commander of the T-STF? Lord Inquisitor (that sounds intense.)? High Overseer? Overseer? T-STF Dispatcher? etc? Ever loyal, T-STF High Commander? Rellek. Field Commander Skyler, I am going to be your direct link to the Capitol from now on, and while you may not like it now, that's just the way it's going to be. I have my reservations about this cozy new position away from the front lines, but I promise I will never order you to do something I wouldn't lead the charge on myself. The Claudians are cunning, and should not be underestimated. I have intel that Claude herself is very dangerous. Be careful and stay alive before anything else, and I'll make you a heroine by the end of this war. It will be an honor to work with you. For the Empress's glory! Sincerely, "Kid" Rellek

Rain was pouring from clouds mercilessly in city of Angery. Marshal Léon Rémi de Dressau was lying in poodle of blood without life. His guard was lying not far away on cobblestones, while the other one died resting on wall of brothel. At his legs was lying a female corpse, all clad in black and wearing a Chigarit mask. City guards and Prophet Guard were investigating the crime scene looking for something more. Archprophetess Claude Trilelo, accompanied by Cardinal de Obrein and Spymaster Gérald Florentin Géroux, were looking at the whole scene. - In the name of Kayto - Claude whispered in shock, seeing this bloodbath. She turned to Gerald - Can you tell us what happened? - Well, situation is quite simple. From what witnesses say and what we see, our dear friend went to brothel like every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When he decided to go home, a group of people in masks attacked him with various melee weapons, killing him and his two companions, suffering loss of one woman, who was shot from a pistol. What is not simple, is the fact of where they currently are, and what are their next plans. Archprophetess nodded. - And do we know who they were? - Not exactly, but I have some suspicions - he said, handing Claude Icarian sabre. - Well, this would explain much, but how do we know it wasn't just a weapon of choice or simple false flag? - Asked de Obrein unconvinced. - I also thought about that, but look at this - Spymaster pointed to a small golden emblem on the blade, near handle - Would a simple mercenary or other nation spy use a sabre from Icarian Royal Armoury? I may be going bit too far, but the people we may be standing against king's own selected assassins, if they use weapons from king's personal armoury. Cardinal looked into the sky. The clouds themselves seemed to cry over their fate. Suddenly, he saw something in the window of one of abandoned houses (the district was full of them). Something... something like... Musket barrel. - Watch out! - He cried and leaped on Claude, throwing her on ground. Firearm cracked. - Oof! - She groaned, hitting the cobblestones - in the name of Kayto, you really love me that much? - she asked, but then she noticed a painful look on his face - What happened? - she asked, but deep down she realised what it was. A quick look on his side confirmed her fears - a growing dark stain on his red uniform. Another firearm cracked, this time bullet hit cardinal in his back. Prophetess' Musketeers fired their guns on the buildings from which shots were taken. Guards rammed into the houses nearby, looking for other shooters. In the meanwhile, de Obrein moved from Claude, slumping on the ground next to her. She quickly got up and leaned over cardinal. - I won't let you die - she said with determination and placed her hands on his chest. She concentrated and started healing him with magic. Lead in his body evaporated, wounds got healed and blood was refilled. - Your Everknowing Majesty - Léopold Clément Pierre, commander of Propher Guard, saluted - we need to get you back to the palace, as soon as possible. Claude just nodded, and handed the unconcious de Obrein to one of the musketeers. Guards came back with empty hands, the assassins simply ran away via the rooftops. - Soldiers! - Shouted Leopold - form protective formation around Archprophetess! - soldiers formed a circle around Claude - March to Her Majesty Palace!

My dearest Commander Skyler, My apologies for not making myself clear. Your orders were to remain in the capitol and finish training. It appears that Squad C didn't get the memo, as I've heard that not only have they abandoned their posts, tipped our hand too early, and lost a valuable human life in the process, but also they didn't seem to understand that we wanted their leaders brought in ALIVE. Whether you had anything to do with this total failure or not, it reflects poorly on you, me, the supreme general, and even Icari herself. I understand that we all want the war to end as quickly as possible, but without discipline and restraint, we will only encounter more loss. I expect better in the future. I want you to send Squad C to serve as bodyguards for our allies in the Avan Conglomerate as probation. Don't let me down. Now I must prepare a letter to our late Ms. Lawson's loved ones, and a speech for her state funeral.
Your commanding officer, Rellek.
Supreme General Blackhead, I would like to take full responsibility for the task force's failure and the tragic loss of life that you have no doubt heard of. As their new superior it may take them some time to trust me, so I will do my best to make myself understood in the future. I am willing to pay for Ms. Lawson's funeral out of my own pocket, though regrettably, her body could not be recovered. That is all.
Ever loyal, T-STF Rellek

Hey kid. Skyler here, Had the General marching in here and interrupt my training because of the little letter you’ve send to him. Had to explain myself. Figured that I’ll fill the blanks and explain what really happened to you. T-STF is composed of the main Squad (Alpha) and multiple subunits. (Beta Squads) The top 5 ranked members of T-STF make it into Alpha Squad and receive the title “Alpha huntress” I’m T-STF’s number one, which makes me the head of Alpha Squad. The remaining Alpha huntresses in order are:
#2 Bellatrix Rose #3 Amelie Faye #4 Clarice Swift #5 Laura Valentine
Beta Squads usually work independently from Alpha on their own Missions and each Squad has their own leader respectively. In case of larger operations where members of Alpha and Beta Squads cooperate, an Alpha huntress always outranks Beta’s leadership and takes charge of the whole operation. No one of Alpha was involved in this. We are all still in the capitol where we intend to stay until we get the official go to capture Claude. I also spoke with Beta Squad C’s leadership, it appears that Lawson and a few of their other agents acted on their own merits, completely outside of the chain of command. I knew Jennifer Lawson on a first name basis. She was Laura Valentine’s best friend and trained under her in an attempt to make it into Alpha. It’s really a shame. I could definitely see potential in her, but it turned out that she still wasn’t anywhere near the top 5 and Alpha Squad material at the time. I complimented her progress and reassured that I certainly saw a future Alpha huntress candidate in her, but she took it quite hard. Months of preparations and all this training with Laura, who is considered one of the absolute best, and then the realization that she still was so far away from her goal. Laura said that Lawson always idealized and looked up to me. I was everything she strove to be. Out of spite and the overwhelming desire to finally prove herself She assembled a small team of like-minded idealistic agents and the target was set: Claude. Unprepared and under-equipped as they were, this operation was doomed To fail from the start. Lawson paid the ultimate prize for that. Other involved agents will undertake disciplinary procedures. This will not happen again on my watch.
As for bringing Claude and her officers in alive, I guarantee for nothing once I personally step on the battlefield. I’m called “Terror Goddess Theresa” for a reason. I never take risks. I never hesitate. And above all I will never show mercy. Their survival will depend on the situation… or my mood.
Theresa Skyler Leading T-STF Field Commander
Officer Rellek, I’m Alpha huntress Valentine. Jenny is dead and I feel responsible! I should have seen it coming, honestly! I can’t stop crying and I don’t know what to do anymore. Theresa ordered me to take a break and get my act together, but I can’t just yet. I have to recover her body at least, but Theresa won’t let me go! I need your permission to do this. I own her that much. Covert ops are my specialty and I can easily recover her without them even noticing me. I won’t pick any unnecessary fights or do anything else stupid I promise! After that I’ll take my break as ordered and be ready for the final push when T-STF needs me.
Alpha huntress, Laura Valentine

Alpha Huntress Valentine, It is with heavy heart that I must decline your request. It is simply too dangerous and I do not know that you won't end up sharing her fate. I do empathize with you, and it would be a shameful waste to leave her there. If it is any consolation, I will try to make sure you are present when we do recover her. For now you must be patient, and ready yourself for when the time is right. I never knew Ms. Lawson, but I'm sure that doing something rash and risking your life over her now is the last thing she'd want you to do. If there is anything else I can do for you, all you need to do is ask.
Sincerely, W. Rellek
Field Commander Skyler, First of all, if there is any consolation I can offer in regards to Ms. Lawson, please let me know. Second, I apologize for you having to deal with the general. From here on out I should act as a buffer between you, so to speak. It's a situation I hope you'll find beneficial, as the general is not as forgiving as I am. I will be arriving at HQ in a few hours time, at which point we'll finally meet face to face and I will begin to oversee your training personally. I'm sure you'll warm up to me in no time. As for orders in the meantime, I have a personal request for the rest of Beta Squad C in regards to the hostilities that recently broke out between the Asagans and the Avans, I want someone to dig up everything they can find on the mercenary Volkenrose and have it delivered to the desk in my quarters, and I want you to get me a hot cup of coffee. See you soon.
High Commander Rellek.
Rellek hit the send button on his holo and looked up just in time to see the capitol out of the window of his shuttle. He could tell getting his second in command to warm up to him was going to be harder than he thought. He should have expected as much, after all, she is Icarian born and raised. Overall he got the feeling that he was leaving one battlefield and entering another, in a way. He chuckled to himself, luckily he was alone... people usually give him strange looks when he does that. He didn't even like coffee, but he figured bossing her around will either earn her respect, or a cup of hot coffee to his crotch. Either way, he'd know a little more about the resident "terror goddess" than he did before, and that was a win in his book.

"We don't know why, but I've been informed that Solan assassins have recently started picking off high priority military targets from many different nations with no clear discernible pattern." High Commander Rellek addressed the Alpha huntress before him. "We need to be ready for the possibility that we could be next. I want active counter-" "Get down!" the huntress interrupted him with a lunge and wrestled him to the floor just before the crack of gunfire shattered the window beside them. "Are you alright?" he asked, trying hard to maintain his composure. "Yeah, I'm fine. Get to cover!" she replied. As soon as his subordinate released him, Rellek dove for his metal reinforced desk, grabbing the sidearm he'd left within. No sooner than he had his bearings, he heard the distinctive sound of an explosive hitting the floor. "Grenade!" he heard his companion shout. Time slowed to a near stop. He looked back and forth between the grenade and the woman who'd saved his life mere moments ago. In this confined space he knew that grenade would vaporize anything in the room not protected by a thick sheet of metal plating. He made his choice. He charged out of cover, against the recommendations of his savior, and dove straight for the armed grenade. He felt his hand wrap around the cold exterior of the explosive device, and flung it as hard as he could back out of the window. Too late. His vision went white, then rapidly dark again. His ears rang, his arm felt mutilated, and his entire body felt like it was on fire. Apparently he'd thrown the grenade far enough, because the dead don't feel pain. That was a comforting thought. The last thing he could hear before falling into unconsciousness was the faint sound of gunfire and panicked shouting as battle ensued...

The last thing he could hear before falling into unconsciousness was the faint sound of gunfire and panicked shouting as battle ensued...
12 Hours Ago; Arrival at HQ
When Rellek arrived at HQ’s entrance area he couldn’t help but be surprised by the various improvements that were made since last time he has been here. Taking a few moments to look around he was caught by surprise when someone clapped him on the shoulder.
“Haha! I’m happy to see you Rellek. I’m Benjamin Carson. HQ’s maintenance and organization director. But you can just call me Beni, everyone does that” At his right stood a short, chubby man with a huge grin across his face. Beni continued. “You like the new lobby, champ? You can thank me for that. I was responsible for HQ’s renovation and all the upgrades you can see here. People here like to joke around and discredit me, but that was all me. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Haha”
“It looks pretty impressive” Rellek answered.
“Sure does.” Beni grumbled while pulling on Rellek’s sleeve. “Now come on. I’ll show you your office.”
Beni and Rellek made their way through the lobby aiming for the elevator. “So, how are things going here at HQ?” Rellek asked.
Beni’s signature smile widened again as he replied. “Ah, just great. We’re winning on all fronts, and although we’re in the middle of war our power and Influence is greater than ever before! We have a huge budget as you can see. Other than that things are real nice and quiet here at HQ.” Beni rubbed his beard thoughtfully. “Only pain in the ass is Theresa. She’s wrecking our gym equipment on a regular basis. And I get to clean up, repair, or replace all that stuff after her.”
“You mean Alpha huntress Skyler? What is she like?” Rellek wondered.
Beni shook his head and his smile faded a bit. “ Ah, she’s a difficult person. Mostly ice cold and reserved but extremely explosive and temperamental if you get on her bad side. She enjoys enormous respect from all our forces, but most soldiers just avoid or even fear her. The only people she regularly interacts with are other alpha huntresses, myself or maybe the General when he happens to be here.”
The elevator arrived at level 23 and the doors opened. “This is it” Beni said. “Your personal office is right over there, next to our new Coffee shop. We’re here on the second highest floor, only the gym is above in 24.”
Beni waved Rellek goodbye and was promptly on his way back down using the elevator. Rellek was about to open the door to his new office, but he felt a strong gaze at his back. Turning around he saw a young women sitting at a table in front of the coffee shop by herself. She had long blond hair and wore shorts and a black sports bra, exposing her defined abs and almost intimidating athletic body. She had a dark tribal tattoo on her left forearm, which in combination with her black fitness attire made a very impressive contrast to her otherwise smooth white skin. Her cheeks were red and even from this distance the shiny sweat pearls on her face were visible. She sat there, legs crossed, sipping her coffee.
Rellek hesitated for a second but then made his way in her direction to introduce himself. “Field Commander Skyler I presume. I’m…”
“Yeah, I know who you are” Skyler interrupted, turning her head to look in another direction dismissively. “Let’s just skip all this bullshit. Shall we? Just taking a short break. I still have some serious training to do.”
Skyler rose from her seat.
“Hey. What about my coffee?” Rellek threw at her.
“Yes, about that…” Skyler chuckled as she swaggered along the corridor. Without looking back she raised her hand and waved with her index finger in a not a chance in hell manner. “Screw yourself.” Then she halted for a split second looking over her shoulder. “Or maybe ask Beni. You two seem cozy, I bet he’d love to join you.”
After that remark Skyler entered the elevator leaving a speechless Rellek behind.

Love the narratives that are going on. I'm glad! What can I say? Writing crappy stories with myself as the main character is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm just glad that good ol' Blackhead is going along with it. It's been a few days since I've heard from my favorite mercenary band, though. The radio-silence gets me jumpy, Charlie.

High Commander Rellek's eyes opened groggily only to be greeted with a painful blinding light. Once they adjusted to the lights and clean white walls of the Headquarter's on site medical ward, he began to take in his surroundings. The first thing he noticed was the mangled stump of his arm. Damn it. That was a good hand. He liked his hand. "Hey, kid." He was interrupted from his mourning by a familiar voice. "Congratulations on not dying on the first week of your desk job." There she was, Theresa Skyler, sitting by his bedside. If she hadn't spoken, one would think she didn't even know he was there as she absentmindedly flicked through her holo. "Theresa? Gasp!" he feigned shock "Were you worried about me?" Without looking up, Skyler calmly reached over to the machine supplying Rellek with a steady stream of pain-meds, and turned it off. Message received. "Okay! Okay, jeez. I'm sorry." She mercifully flicked it back on. "Such a harsh mistress..." He said jokingly. "Don't you forget it," She replied, finally acknowledging his presence with a glare that could make plants wither. "How many did we lose?" Rellek asked finally done sneaking around the elephant in the room. "Permanently? None." she replied. Rellek sighed in relief. "Casualties were low on both sides. They were highly trained, but so were we. Luckily we have a medical facility right here to bring our wounded to." "Did you give them hell?" he asked. "They almost turned me into paste with a grenade. I wasn't going to let that slide. I Hunted down three of the sneaky bastards myself." "Are you sure you didn't just want to avenge me?" Rellek teased her, plastering a giant shit-eating grin across his face. "Do you want to lose your other arm?" The muscular elite soldier answered his question with a question. "not really, no." He replied sheepishly. Skyler stood up "I'm going to go to training." she stated, walking towards the door. "Have fun being a cripple. Now you'll need Beni to help you masturbate." That one hurt. "You sure you don't want the job?" He threw back in a moment of insanity, and the last thing he saw of her was her middle finger sliding out through the doorway.

Rain was losing its intensity. Thankfully, main roads such as this one were paved, so Hahnreitern didn't have to go through muddy hell. Some time after escaping the battlefield, Joachim relised that he forgot about most important thing - approvisation. Luckly, Assendorp proved her competency by snatching few carts with food, ammunition and water. They were secured for next week. Rittmeister looked at the area nearby. In the very first days of war, those lands suffered the worst, being an object of Icarian push in initial phase. Whole villages were burnt in raids, hundreds were dying every day. Even now trees along the road were full of hanged corpses. There was no point in checking the ruins - Icarians have done that hundreds of times. Joachim checked the map of local area to see what was ahead of them. It was a small town of Coeuvres with a bridge on former Icarian-Claudist border. Perfect site for outpost. - Ugh. Heidrun, can you come here for a second? - Hm? He showed her map and pointed to Coeuvres. - What are we going to do about it? Heidrun started to think intensively. - I have no idea, honestly. We just have to hope that they were feeling too confident and there is no outpost, or it is very small. They arrived next day. Coeuvres was surrounded with field defenses, and garrisoned by mercenary company. - So much of our hopes - concluded Assendorp. Joachim looked at the town via spyglass. Solarist mercenaries, no doubt. Their armoured musketeers would create some problems, and if they form pike wall in front of the bridge... - Vandergrift! Get two people, we have to go on reconaissance! Soon, they separated from main group. They approached the town from left side, to no avail - it was fortified just like front. They made a large arch and saw the town from right side. That one wasn't fortified, but it wasn't necessary - building already provided enough cover and also blocked way to rest of the town. Joachim sighed. - Well, looks like we have to find another passage, of course if you don't have any plan, Godfried. - Well, to be perfectly honest, I have one, but I don't know if this works. - I'm all ears now. - said curious Rittmeister

Beni sat across a table from the high commander, surrounded by people chatting away and enjoying a quick lunch break. He usually spent his break alone, but Rellek seemed friendly enough, so it was a nice change of pace. The commander was just out of the medical ward and still looked a little rough. "I hear I have you to thank for the new arm." Rellek stated, holding up the metal prosthetic he'd acquired for him like he was admiring a shiny new toy. "Do you do everything around here?" Rellek continued. Finally some recognition! "Almost." said Beni, beaming with pride. "Most just ignore me while I work behind the scenes." He leaned in conspiratorially "You'd be surprised how much I pick up around here when no one thinks I'm listening." Rellek was intrigued. "Alright then, how about this." Rellek began, mimicking Beni's posture. "I haven't seen the general around since I got here. What's the story with that?" Beni raised an eyebrow and answered him in a hushed tone. "That's a good question. You see, the official story is that he's off visiting the front lines, leading men, but that's not the whole truth." He continued "What I've heard is that the Commander of the Sapphire Phoenix Legion betrayed the empress, and he had to go deal with that mess personally." "Woah, really? What did he do specifically?" Rellek asked. Treason was a serious charge. He could see why that would be kept quiet. "I couldn't say." Beni replied. "That's all I've got. Sorry." While the High Commander processed this information, Beni noticed in his possession a tall bottle with a label depicting the empress wearing an ushanka and riding a bear into battle, triumphantly wielding a balalaika like a sword. "I take it you've met the minister of propaganda." He noted. Rellek lifted the bottle and half-dropped it on the table, making a loud thunk. "Yeah, it was a welcoming gift. It will look good on my shelf if nothing else." "You're not going to drink it?" Beni wondered. "I don't really drink." he explained. "I'm from the Ava Conglomerate, remember? They don't exactly promote drinking there. Drinking makes you sloppy and messes with the chain of bureaucracy and all that. If you want alcohol you have to fill out a dozen forms. It's a nightmare!" Beni chuckled. "I can see how that could be discouraging." Rellek took the last bite of his lunch and stood up to leave. "Well I better get going, Beni. Same time tomorrow?" "Why not?" He replied. The two said their goodbyes and parted.
Rellek slid into his newly rebuilt quarters and heaved a heavy sigh from the center of his diaphragm. "Now where was I?" he asked the empty room as he sat himself at his desk. Time to get back to work...
These war stories keep me entertained. I plan to keep going until I run out of ideas or someone tells me to stop. It's a lot more interesting when other people get involved, though. It gives me more to work with.

Adelardo Bagnoli had watch tonight. He was looking with sleepy eyes into the darkness of the night, trying to spot anything. Homestly, he hated this job. His company has been garrisoning a town for five months already. In the meanwhile, there was nothing to do, no one attacked them and the only company were travelling from time to time Icarian forces, but they consisted mostly from stuck up noble twits, who despised commoners like him and outside world overall. Icarians always thought they were the most perfect people, and everyone who is diffrent from them is wrong. Adelardo was standing under the awning of the outpost, but after days of endless rains it leaked. Suddenly, the rain stopped. Adelardo greeted the silence with relief. Suddenly, the silence was interrupted with two gunshots.
Vandergirft and a few of his selected Hahnreitern were crawling through mud and grass. Rain and night were their assets - former jammed their noises and both of them reduced vision of their enemies. They finally reached the building on the right side. Vandergrift looked through the window and saw that no one was watching. He climbed the window and got inside the building. It was full of weapons and barrels. "Weapon stash" he thought. Perfect. He remembered this place and waited for the others to join him. He opened the door on outside and checked if there is someone. There were two guards, chatting with each other, walking dwon the road. Godfried waited until they passed the stash and his squad sneaked behind guards' backs. They entered another house, which served role of soldiers' barracks. All were sleeping soundly. hahnreitern took their knives and cut Solarians' throats. They repeated it with several more houses. Until everything fucked up. One of the soldiers wasn't such heavy sleeper as his comrades were. When one of reiters was about to pierce his throat, he stopped hand with knife and started struggling. It woke up several others and one of them started shouting. They were quite quickly dealt with though. Doors opened suddenly and two soldiers entered the house. Vandergrift didn't think much - he just grabbed his pistols and shot both of them. Even if that little struggle in the barracks didn't wake up everyone, then loud shots have surely done that. Cavalrymen started to run. From further houses, soldiers started to go outside, often naked or wearing some underwear, holding weapons. Bullets started flying around them. Cornet reminded himself of weapon stash. - Run! I'll join you in few moments! - he ordered his men. They split up - Vandergrift ran to cache, while his men took a shorter route out of the camp. With corner of the eye, Godfried saw as one of the soldiers drops dead, hit by a stray bullet in head. Vandergrift busted inside of magazine. He took his sword and used it to block the door, which would give him few second. He took some small barrel with powder and poured out its' content on the floor. Godfried jumped through the window and took out flint with a tinder - he always kept it hidden for special cases. Cornet placed tinder on his knee and lit it up. Wood soon started to burn. He took it in his hand and then he heard a loud noise - Solarians finally broke into the house. Vandergrift started to run in direction of open field and threw piece of wood into the house. Blast of explosion threw him a good few meters forward. Vandergirft hit the ground with his face. Debris landed all around him. He laid there for some time. Then he got up and started to walk slowly to the place where he left his horse.
Joachim's eyes opened up when he saw sudden explosion. You'll know the signal when the time comes, commander, said Vandergrift back then. If that wasn't a signal, what was? - Hahnreitern! This is our moment! We have to strike quickly, before they manage to control the chaos! Charge! Reiters galloped to the Coeuvres, followed by carts led by larger amount of horses than usual - this was done to give them more mobility, which would really be needed. Cavalry was greeted by Solarian muskets - while they were mostly in chaos and disarray, some squads garrisoned the earthworks. Few horsemen dropped from their saddles. However, rest of them didn't care about it. They rushed into the town with full speed, not stopping to fight. Soon, Godfried's squad rejoined them, with Godfried barely keeping himself on a horse. Finally, they galloped through the bridge, not stopped by anything. This was it. Finally, they got to Icarin.
