Ok I think I know the reason why Sunrider can't counterattack. It seems its flak is zero for no reason. Checked this in turn 1 and it was already zero, so it wasn't under FlakOff by any PACT Support. One Alliance Cruiser also had its flak zeroed. All Arcadius ryders also had their flak zeroed (should be 40). All these were not under FlakOff This needs to be addressed or no balance considerations can be made. I consider all play made under such circumstances invalid and will probably have to restart from scratch. Sunrider no flak: i.imgur.com/Oz2acPy.jpgAlliance Cruiser no flak: i.imgur.com/2JG2cvP.jpgSaved file at start of turn 1, 2nd Cera battle (played on v12.1, was unable to even place ships in v12.03): drive.google.com/open?id=0B718EwfMB6IpSHhBWnBFY1dTN1kEDIT1: Retested from earlier save, and ran into same issue: Sunrider, 1 Alliance Cruiser and all Arcadius have no flak. Started fresh with a new game and Sunrider has flak in Cosette battle. Would really prefer not to repeat everything... kinda waiting for a fix at this point, but I guess I will if I have to. Might be a whole week before I finish things and can give proper feedback in that case though, expecting a busy week ahead and still tired from travelling. EDIT2: Retried with v12.2. Doesn't help matters I'm afraid. I guess I'll be slogging through Cosette tomorrow...

And Drath, on Fire Emblem, I would actually recommend you to use an emulator and try either FE7 or FE4 first. Both are the peak of the series, both are very challenging (specially FE4) and both have a "classic" game aura you will probably love (Awakening or fates will probably be way too easy for you; the gameplay is good, it's just, well, not needed to learn at depth because except for some cheap bosses and difficulty modes there will be nothing forcing you to think that far). Though if you still haven't got Trails in the Sky SC, I don't know if I should tell you this, that is a capital sin after all ... (in which region you are?) I'll see if I can find any good emulators for it. The last time I tried stuff for running things meant for other platforms or old games, it didn't work so well. The only one that even worked was Bluestacks for iOS/android games and even then the performance wasn't very good. I do want to support the FE devs. I just don't want to pay that much for 3DS for that alone. Well if there were other good titles on 3DS that I would want to play (TBS/RPG) or if the price came down, it could be worth it I guess. Read a lot of good reviews for Awakening. Trails SC is still 56 bucks (local currency) for me. I'll get it on the next sale, promise. Apart from beta 12, I'm spending my time on Storm Guard lately. I like that it relies little on RNG (if properly played), resources are appropriately tight and while not super demanding, you really cannot afford mistakes on the battlefield or you will be punished harshly.

Hehe well I'm no audiophile either, nor do I understand Japanese, so I'm pretty much in the same boat as Histie. I will say though that having all of the girls' lines voiced in Japanese took me by surprise. Full JP voiceover on Patreon is slated at 10k and we're no where near that so I was really only expecting the combat lines to be voiced. Hope with this development, Sunrider will be able to penetrate the Japanese market well. Would be good to know what are their regular sites that promote VNs.
However while it is good to know that Sunrider is likely to get a substantially bigger Japanese audience in future, I fervently hope the English speaking fans are not neglected. We were with you guys from the start, still are, and look forward to more English content. Yes that includes subtitles for combat lines as Histidine stated. I know the old lines in English but I don't know any Japanese to be able to even pair them up properly.

Nice to know the first is fixed. I tried to reproduce the 2nd but couldn't either. Alliance Carrier (not Cruiser) is repairing for 40EN for me. However I note there are some appropriate changes from the beta 11. Now the Carrier only repairs adjacent units (which fits the tooltip), instead of having a 3 hex radius for repairs in beta 11. The repair still works on itself and other regular units including Sunrider, not just ryders alone.

Was only able to start playing after patched to 12.1 and ran into more issues at the start of turn 1. Sunrider does not counterattack when Bianca pulls enemy ryders into its range. Phoenix and Cera Gunboats counterattack as usual. Assault on Sunrider works as normal but its counterattack is oddly dysfunctional.
I think I might play for bugs instead of trying to complete it. This beta has lots of issues.

Yea I can't play any further either due to this. Every time I click on a Mining Union Frigate or an Alliance Cruiser to place them, the above error happens. I can't seem to auto place them either. The other units/merc units/temporary units are all fine. And yes I've also downloaded and replaced the old combatlabels.rpy with the new one. Retested and it didn't help. Still getting the same crashes.

Phoenix has a bonus to resurrect because youknow. phoenix. the undying bird? I just think it's funny. I even made an achievement for resurrecting her twice in the same battle named "phoenix down". no? never played final fantasy? ok Lol yea, "Phoenix, rising from the ashes!". Also achievements?! Who, when, how? I thought these weren't in. Well it's good to know that they will make the final version. Hmm... I guess must dig the game files to see what those achievements are... Or are they not in beta 11 yet? Haven't really noticed them. Would be nice to have some achievements that encourage good play. Maybe hitting a certain number of ships with Vanguard or exceeding a set amount of damage with it. Damn we should revive that achievement thread(s) from the old forums and bring it here... EDIT: ok achievement thread on old forums was here: innomenpro.com/forums/index.php?topic=695.0If there are any good new ideas, maybe we should start a new thread on it.

I believe this one is intended. Phoenix used to die so much in 7.1a, (both the players and the devs think so), before hate changes, that Vaen kindly allowed her to come back with 50% EN. See: innomenpro.com/forums/index.php?topic=790.msg19501#msg19501In 7.2, with Sunrider getting more aggro and Phoenix getting less, things played out quite a bit smoother and I no longer got her gibbed that often. As Liberation Day uses much of MoA code, it's not surprising that Phoenix retains this capability. Personally I'm fine with it, though I suppose with the new advances in Stealth and even Cloaking, she doesn't really need this crutch anymore, so taking it off is fine for me too. Resurrection was added later IIRC, not bundled together with the rest of the orders. It worked fine for me on Blackjack in Cera. Will have to recheck the first battle. EDIT: Just checked first battle, deliberately getting Phoenix killed then switching to Waifu mode to get enough CP. Resurrection works fine for me.

"kom naar vader!" Make it happen xD lol not in the main game, surely. however, there's always the modding scene It's a deal then, you're making them for the next (official) mod!! Holding you to it xD Also I say make the fans work a bit. People have been too lazy quiet lately. Let them come up with lines for you and Sam. We've had a fanfic contest before. So surely coming up with some good lines is trivial. Best lines judged by you and Sam will get Liberation Day for free. I will abstain of course, but you guys can still use my lines if you like them.

To Magpie: Thanks for the support!! Much appreciated! To Samu-kun: NOOOOOOOOO..... why, Vaen, why? Ok, ok, I know... he declined because you're not doing Cera Gunboat. If you both did them, you could giggle at each other when doing the lines and so he wouldn't feel small Also I leave it to you to decide your accent. Chinese? Korean? Japanese? Up to you P/S - I was just messing around anyway, just something to think about in future

Always hoped that there would be a choice in the final game whether to listen to the audio in English (old files) or in Japanese (new files) As for the mercs not being voiced, it's probably too late to hire extra people, but I think Vaen should do Union Battleship and Sam should do Cera Gunboat Imagine Union Battleship lines with a Dutch accent, yea! xD Dutch accent sample (do watch this first or the lines below won't make sense): Union Battleship On selection: "Union Bat... uh, Asteroid Crusher, at your service" "Expecting trouble?" xD "I need my bottle. 'hic' " On moving: "Directions received" xD On attack: "Altering geometry" "Extracting motherlode" On using Gravity Gun: "kom naar vader!" Make it happen xD

I'm quite a fan of Two Steps From Hell. Lots of great stuff from them, really too many to name as I virtually like them all lol. But if I had to pick a few, probably Black Blade, After the Fall, Promise, Dreammaker, Men of Honor, Compass, yea this doesn't do justice at all but it's a start. As for game music, here's a memorable one from Dragon Age: Origins, Ferelden at War
I particularly like the final half a minute, from the gradual build up of tension midsong, which features the charge of hopeless odds against the Darkspawn. Epic, inspiring and heart rending. This one is good too: I Am The One
The first theme from the Banner Saga soundtrack, We Will Not Be Forgotten. Also Strewn Across a Bridge and Of Our Bones, The Hill. Really atmospheric pieces that enhance the mood in-game. And I should mention Final Fantasy tracks as well, seeing as we should stick with JRPGs somewhat, so I will end with some happier sounding favorites here: Liberi Fatali and Waltz for the Moon (don't groan at me please )

Usually it is because quality control can get quite tedious over time and a side effect of this is missing interactions you may have picked up previously (so don't beat yourself up too much). I'd know from first hand experience I used to test software for the organisation I work at. Lol that's certainly true. Playing the same battle again and again (which was forced upon MoA testers previously because new versions would break old saves and you'd need to start from scratch) can really accelerate burnout. I mean yes we're testers but I think everyone started testing at least partly because they wanted some fun too And some people wonder why some testers keep asking for nerfs. IMHO it really isn't so much the case that the testers play well, but when you HAVE to go through the same battle again and again, I think at some point you unconsciously optimize the process whether you want to or not lol (based on foreknowledge of the battle, including incoming reinforcements and placement). I think that's where a fresh pair of eyes can provide a good alternative view of things. This thread has reminded me though that I haven't really explored interactions with the mirv, always tended to prefer multiple regular missile actions to spread damage so that the ryders could do most of the leg work. Yea, I've never been a rocket (torpedo) user either as those who know my playstyle will attest, as I generally prefer to rely on actual upgrades rather than consumables, hence why I caught these late. Used to rely on the old crew, who were rocket users (Gorchnik, Graph, Marx) for feedback in that regard, but my Lord and Marx are both busy with RL, and Graph is probably no longer with us, so I think I probably should occasionally try out rockets for testing purposes... just in case.

Hmm fair enough. I think any 'downgrades' which are bundled together with upgrades should be stated clearly in store text in future. As a player, knowing that it takes twice as much energy to fire a MIRV torpedo instead of a regular one may influence my decision on whether to upgrade. It is true as you say that MIRVs are insanely powerful but there are also situations where the enemy is placed further apart and you would really prefer to fire 2 rockets instead of 1, to take out high priority targets.
As my previous observations/comments on MIRV were all erroneously based on the fact that I expected it to cost the same at 30EN, should you wish to revert the decision and go back to 60EN MIRV torpedoes, then I think you probably don't need to nerf its splash damage either in beta 12.
Thanks for the prompt response.
P/S - yea the actual damage dealt is correct as before, but displayed damage isn't

Lol I didn't really mean it that way. Sorry if I came across as an ass. I probably did lol, so I'm taking my words back. I sincerely apologize if you were offended. It wasn't directed at you anyway, more to those who never post. We technically have a thousand or more testers... Mostly though I was upset at myself for not having caught it earlier, so yea apologies for venting.
Just a little worried because when MoA was first released, the very first version 7.0 came with quite a good number of bugs (AI issues, movement, balance) and I'd rather not repeat that experience, especially with a paid product because first impressions count.

2 issues here:
1)Converting regular torpedoes to MIRV torpedoes raises the base EN cost of firing it from 30EN (which has been the standard figure all along since First Arrival days) to 60EN. As the MIRV torpedo store text does not mention this huge change and it's very odd to include a downgrade in a supposed upgrade, I'm labelling it a bug and hope it will be fixed by beta 12.
2)MIRV torpedo damage (displayed floating damage) still uses damage based on a Captain setting and is not readjusted based on difficulty settings like the other damage options (Kinetic, Laser, etc) currently are.
EDITED because I was being somewhat irritable when I wrote it

I come from the RTS department... so to speak. Used to play Starcraft 2 on a semi-professional level, before I had to drop it because of time constraints. Also a big Command and Conquer fan. Especially the Red Alert series with its silliness has taken a special place in my heart. But what really puts this game above any other visual novel I looked into is the gameplay. It's simple to understand, a lot of room for different play styles, casual or challenging depending on the difficulty you choose. Ah good to see another strategy fan around I did dabble in a bit of casual Starcraft during my uni years but my "actions per minute" is retard level so to speak, so it was never really my cup of tea. And getting older hasn't really helped my reflexes or fast decision making skills either You might want to have a look at this though and see if it piques your interest: zero-k.info/The gameplay is also what brought to me to Sunrider too, so cheers to that! Magpie: Well I think it's mostly my local currency not having a good exchange rate with the USD lately. Anyhow I don't mind waiting a bit with so many games on the backburner. Before I got Steam, I was a "one game at a time" person. Now it's akin to being at a buffet and able to sample lots of stuff. It's good to have more games at one's disposal but I find I tend to get distracted more easily and don't explore each game as thoroughly as I would otherwise have. azure: Yea both KOTOR and Dragon Age had epic stories and are definitely amongst my all time favorites too. And yes I haven't really finished D:OS and DA:I either. Again both are good, especially D:OS. I keep telling myself it requires a little too much of a time commitment and I'll get to it later, and sadly haven't really done so.

I don't actually play turn-based strategy games often xD only touched the fire emblem games a little, and also never got too far into the advanced wars series. I liked them, but they're hard! Blasphemy and lies! The day I believe that is the day I believe you're not actually a genius at maths. But it's ok, finish up Blackguards and all will be forgiven xD I must try Fire Emblem some day. But I think a 3DS would set me back nearly 1K in local currency and that's not counting the game itself, which probably comes up to a few hundreds as well. If I'm only getting it for Fire Emblem and no other 3DS games, that doesn't really sound like a good investment. 'I don't really like VNs' 'I play mostly simulation games' ! Ok then can we have Sunrider Tycoon as the next spin off? xD Wait, I know... what about a simulation on making games lol. Of course make it a better one than say this one: store.steampowered.com/app/327000/Eat your heart out, Shirobako, "The Making of Sunrider" is coming!!! P/S - I hear recruiting Vaen and Melon was a real challenge

Well currently I'm back for the holidays and regular normal people celebrate holidays by getting in holiday mood, do holiday stuff, get together with friends and family and well you know do social thingamajigs. Social outcasts Crazed Dedicated gamers like myself on the other hand use this opportunity to scan Steam for sales and hopefully get some good titles for cheap So far I got myself " The Storm Guard: Darkness is Coming" which wasn't really that cheap but was pretty much worth it IMHO. But I installed it on my desktop (which I can't access at the moment), my saves are all there and I generally am loathe to repeat stuff so I had to find something else to occupy my time with on my laptop (hint: impulsive buyer sighted ). So then I bought Thea: the Awakening and Guardians of Graxia. I think Thea is pretty hardcore though, I went into my first combat, couldn't make head or tails out of it (with the in-game explanation) and promptly got slaughtered. Time to look for a proper manual (I think the combat part actually asked me to watch a youtube video to get into grips with the game... ) I would like to play XCOM 2 yes but 190 in local currency is way too much for me to fork out for a game (yes, ironically I'm paying quite a bit to support a particular game via Patreon (no prizes for guessing ), but well I'm a sucker for indie devs lol). As there are lots of titles I still have my eye on, including 2nd chapter of Trails in the Sky, Age of Decadence and Banner Saga 2 (whenever that is)... I'm not going to flush my wallet just for one game. I really need to finish up some old Spiderweb games too... been holding off on them for way too long... Favorite games, hmm... it's hard to pick a few amongst so many. I mostly play TBS and RPGs so I won't comment on other genres. I will still say the Heroes of Might and Magic series (especially 2 and 3) was what captured my attention the longest, but that was due to community involvement (making records, reviewing maps, beta testing, etc) as much as being due to the strength of the game itself. I'm not really playing it any longer though. Almost a decade spent on it is quite enough lol. Lately, apart from Sunrider, the better turn based games IMHO would be: X-COM Lords of XulimaBlackguardsTemple of Elemental Evil (not available on Steam) Honorable mentions: Avadon, Avernum: Escape from the Pit, Banner Saga, Expeditions: Conquistador, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Legends of Eisenwald, Trails in the Sky, Valkyria Chronicles, Warhammer Quest All quite playable and have their pros. In terms of pure gameplay and storyline I would actually put the first two on that list really high but the graphics are very basic. For non-turn based games (including realtime with pause gameplay), fairly recently I've enjoyed both Aarklash Legacy and Pillars of Eternity (massive RPG, which really brings back memories of the old Black Isle/Bioware games) and the old Total War games like Shogun are always a blast to play. I've also played other popular ones, like Diablo, World of Warcraft (which literally ate up months of my time, yes my /played is pretty embarrassing lol) but I somehow always make my way back to the turn based titles and I expect that's the way it will be for the years to come.

This bug appears to be the same as this one reported on Steam: steamcommunity.com/app/313730/discussions/0/496881136917683513/Make sure NOT to left click again on a unit after selecting its missiles. If you wish to cancel missiles, right click anywhere on the battlefield to unselect it. Save regularly in case you accidentally trigger it again. Check your autosaves to see if you can get back to the nearest save to continue the mission. Yea it's a known bug and should be fixed but I'm not sure if I want to pressure the devs to fix avoidable bugs for MoA right now with Liberation Day right around the corner. Hope not triggering the sequence works for you.

... Considering LiS speed in releasing new material, I find it unlikely even though I would wish it too (I also want my blue haired one route~~). However, it wouldn't be the first time Samu-kun trolled us, and he himself said he wished to continue Sunrider after Lib Day. So maybe he plans to make it mostly lineal, with different ending and then after it new games that build on these endings? Yea it looks like we ARE getting Liberation Day on March 4th and beta 12 isn't available yet. I dunno how much feedback I can give within the next couple of weeks or if the devs are making further adjustments/content after beta 12. It'd be a fairly short last third if the game ended with another battle or two. I also thought Samu-kun wanted a vacation after Lib Day But surely he should give us something that feels complete before he goes on vacation Oh well, right now I'm not hoping for too much, I just hope I can help weed out any last bugs in time with March 4th being less than a month away.

do you already have an idea if you want to continue supporting MoA with some upgrades, simply sporadic bug patches or leave like it is? I'm really not too sure if there is too much else to be done for MoA at this stage after Samu-kun corrected the energy accuracy bug. The laser/pulse 10% degradation per hex has been implemented, additional items (ie Gravitino Generator) brought to bear, AI rockets have been fixed, AI movement and shooting has been fixed, enemy melee has been fixed, etc, etc. Can't really complain, we've gotten quite a bit out of 7.2. Anything I would change after 7.2? Well seriously I'm not terribly keen with messing around with balance too much at this point. Previously I was arguing for Full Forward to be nerfed to +10% damage as originally planned. But seeing as we are not getting that for Liberation Day, I think it looks weird to just implement it for MoA. Nerfing FF and AG duration to 4 turns on the other hand is fine for me, as it's only 3 turns in Lib Day. The other two major points in balance I can think of would be: 1)Nerfing laser/pulse to bring it closer to Liberation Day - this should be done IMHO though truthfully I've NOT seen anyone else bring up Pulse being overpowered apart from Histidine and myself, so I'm not sure if it really has much of an impact on most people's games. Also if we're too harsh, we're just inviting more complaints on difficulty. Games generally start hard and then get progressively nerfed to get more casuals, not the other way round lol. So yea I'm fine with just reducing the amount per upgrade for energy cost reduction from 7.5% to 5% as it is in Liberation Day. It's not game breaking to have energy cost upgrade multiplier stay at 1.8 or number of Pulse shots to stay the same. 2)Giving carrier spawns some energy instead of zero - I might argue to give assault carriers and carriers spawns half energy so that they're not complete sitting ducks as they are now. Not sure that will sit well with the others though. I do believe you had a point there when these were originally suggested but once again, I think it should be tested a bit before being implemented. It also doesn't fit well with Liberation Day now, where spawns are still zero energy. Apart from that well sure there might be a few odd typos leftover (like "stuck a deadly image", "Behomian Maiden") but by and large, the text is fine. And maybe some random crashes that could be prevented by tightening the code (again pretty hard to trace and correct these).

Good to have centralized forums. To start the ball rolling on issues, just wondering if the website download has been updated to v7.2? (Last checked a month or so ago, it was still at v7.1) sunrider-vn.com/SunriderMaskofArcadius-all.zipIf it has, then kindly ignore this message. If it hasn't, I think it's high time to get it done. Yes the vast majority of players will download from Steam and get automatically updated to 7.2. But there is a small group that experiences persistent file corruption(?) from Steam for some reason. See: steamcommunity.com/app/313730/discussions/0/527273789694313169/And of course there is also a small minority that are just plain allergic to installing Steam for whatever cause. Therefore keeping an alternative direct download from the website updated to the latest version 7.2 would be nice.
