Well... let's start with "hello everyone".
I'm here because I played Mask of Arcadius and I wanted to express my appreciation here, even if it's only a little thread. I like TBS, I like challenging battles and Sunrider kept me a lot of time up trying to win apparently unwinnable battles. It was hard, sometimes frustrating but I'm an X-COM guy after all.
I've also heard that a lot of people preferred the waifu mode and skipped the whole combat system, and that you're planning more regulars visual novels for the future. I understand that you'll have to follow the market and your customers so I won't really hold any grudge if you change your targets ^_^ Yes, really! I just wanted to say that tactical combat WAS the main dish of the game to me. We all know how easily you can just sell everything that features anime sex scenes and an harem, but with Sunrider you actually chose to put a real game into the game and that was the very reason I kept playing it.
So, thank you for all the fish, and see you around o/

Hi there shieldwall, welcome to the forum (I will remember to hide behind you if I am ever in any danger). I am in a similar boat (I'm sure Drath will show his support too when he appears) in which I love the tactical segments and hope they remain a core fundamental of the series. I always feel a bit disappointed when people say they didn't enjoy the game and then confirm that they only played waifu mode as it is not the full experience, saying that I can understand that the segments are not for everyone and that they are just here for the story elements. I think moving forward that it is about balancing both the VN and the tactical gameplay scene / audiences, something I will be watching for keenly in the next development cycle.

Agreed. It helped that the Tactical combat felt very polished and, frankly, fun to play. Skipping it is a disservice to the game, the creators who worked hard to make the system fun, and yourself because you're missing out.
It would be like playing Fire Emblem and only playing for the relationships while playing on super easy ROFLstomp combat mode, or going the complete opposite direction. Both are an integral part of the game, and skipping one cheapens it.

Yes, that what's I was trying to say.
They must have worked really hard to implement the combat system and I felt kinda sad seeing that a lot of people just skipped it looking for the nude scenes. It's like if someone played BG2 just to have the romances, and... well, everyone is free to play in the way that like the most but the game holds so much more that's a shame.
Maybe some people were thrown off by the escort missions, trying to kill everything instead of punching through and decided that the game was too hard for them? Or maybe a lot of people just thought that they were buying a visual novel instead of a strategic game, don't know...

I definitely vote Viconia as the best, but I also haven't done Jaheria and Anomen so I MIGHT be biased. But then again, I think Anomen is a pansy, I dislike Jaheria's class options and I feel WEIRD romancing her since I played BG1. That and BG2 just has other interesting characters I can collect who have better slots in the party. Like Minsc. And Korgen. And Jan. ESPECIALLY Jan. Sorry Jaheria.

I'm not saying I have a thing for Grey DeLisle, but I totally have a thing for Grey DeLisle, and Aerie and Jaheira are annoying and boring respectively. She was my first vidya waifu and informed my waifu preferences ever since.
