Hi guys,
I think some of the Sunrider characters match the known anime/manga-archetypes - but if I'm honest: I'm generally not an very experienced anime-fan.
So I ask the community: What do you think, which character belongs to which archetype?

As someone who didn't watch anything except Evangelion... Sola: Rei Ayanami ExpyIcari: TsundereIf Cosette was a love interest, she'd be the YandereBut you probably knew all this already.

I'm not sure if Asaga fits a certain archetype or not but she's definitely a lot less stable than a first glance would show.

there's a lot of people who disagree about the specifics of various fan terms, but I'd say (and watch people disagree with me): Asaga is a 'genki girl' and 'the Ace'. Kryska is 'Hot-Blooded' and a tomboy. If there was anyone I expected to use ' boku' it'd be her. Cosette is 'Yangire' as opposed to yandere. a yandere still has dere moments and is often very obsessive about her crush - a yangire just want to wear your skin for the lols. Chigara is a plain deredere with arguably a hint of 'yamato nadeshiko'(an immature one, anyway). as opposed to the other possibility dandere/shrinking violet, which to me means someone way too shy to even try talking to her crush. Chigara is too proactive for dandere imo. no longer applies after the events at the end of LibDay Sola is a kuudere aka ayanami expy. typically aloof and appear emotionless, distant and uninterested in romance but modern incarnations tend to warm up to the MC over time. Icari is a very clear cut-and-paste tsundere (type A to be exact, meaning tsun is her default) Ava is known by many names. 'the stoic', tsundere type B (maybe even 'classic tsundere'), 'Sugar and Ice Personality'. Claude is Claude. she's an ecchi ditzy (teehee) ojou with a touch of cloudcuckoolander. She could also be described by the rather new moniker of gou-dere (derived from 強引), but that's a rare term and most would have no idea what it means. it refers to a very forceful and typically lascivious type. kinda yandere but without the supercrazy. often ignores whatever her crush says and does and just assumes he'll go along with anything she wants. interestingly, I would not say she's a kamidere xD especially the meaning of kuudere and dandere people will bicker over at length. One might say I'm of this faction:

Mostly what Vaen said, but I don't think Chigara has anything remotely similar to a Yamato Nadeshiko; a plain deredere with a bit of a dash of dandere (while not to crippling levels she's very shy and fairly antisocial).
And well, Sola is not exactly a kuudere (she totally is a Rei Ayanami expy though), but as Vaen says, arguments over what exactly a kuudere is or not are endless, so let's leave it like that for now.

Maybe I'm wrong, but what do you guys think about this: Ava in Academy is much more Tsundere as Icari-sama (forgive me, my love...) in LiberationDay?! @sola/ayanami expy - never heard of this archetype ('cause I never saw Neon Genesis Evangelion), but I've seen more Chars like Sola in other Games. Okay, doesn't matter, but: Is NGE muche Sunrider-like? recommend for a Sunrider-Icari-Freak? Whats about Asaga, I think she has some yandere-elements, at first she is the classical genki but: in the end of LD she is really freaky and just an bit possesed with protecting Kayto. All the "I SHOW KAYTO THAT I'M THE GIRL WHO PROTECTS HIM!!!"
just thoughts

just thoughts NGE is... well, weird is the right word. Overall some love it, some hate it, etc. While Sunrider has some influence from it (though the same could be said of almost all modern anime), it's not similar at all. I personally recommend it mostly because of seeing the impact it had in general, and because I like the kind of weird it exposes. Be prepared for creepyness, despair and symbols everywhere however. (If you like Icari, then you'll probably like Asuka, though she is a lot more brash and violent) And yeah, on Academy Ava is a textbook tsundere, though she is more of the old ones (classic tsundere), which is similar to her grown up version. I'm more doubtful on Asaga having yandere elements though. Nowadays you put a tad bit of obsession and people already jump on the yandere train . Yanderes are determined mainly by a 2 points criteria: -All her life revolves around her love interest without anything else important. -And because of this she is ready to use extreme measures to have "his love" because the moment he loves someone else is equivalent to death in life for her. This extreme measures usually involves big kicthen knives or axes. Asaga was just a lot of jealousy. While she will undoubtfully be a little paranoic from now on, this is not exclusive of yanderes. As seen from this, Chigara actually fits a lot better, specially now that she is capable of using extreme measures.

I would like to make a "relatively" Readable compiled list to possibly conclude this subject (as I find it extremely interesting personally). First a disclaimer: I am not including any of the events of Liberation Day in this list as I'm not yet familiar with the events that occur during that game. I will also keep this as spoiler free as possible and add simple descriptions for easier reference. The order they are listed in is not related to anything specific. This does not include the characters as they are in academy. Ava (Second in command): Is to my examination mainly a "By the book" type character, I'd also claim there to be a hint of Tsundere in her personality as well. Contains an amount of "Cool beauty". Asaga (Red-head fighter lady): To my "less than well trained" eye Asaga displays mostly traits of a Deredere although I'd like to argue there's a certain amount of Dojikko mixed in there too. Chigara (Purple-haired Scientist): A milder form of a Dandere along with a part Hakase due to her technical... skills. Sola (White-haired Sniper): A case of clear Kuudere to my references. Not much more to add other than the fact that she's an extreme type of that (yeah the Rei-archetype) Icari (Sword lady in yellow): One word. TSUNDERE... The voice line "I'm not doing this because I like you." Is absolutely exhibit A in this. Also a good example of Mayadere. Claude (Pink as pink "doctor"): A hard case to categorize other than Deredere and Dojikko with a complex for the protagonist. Could have turned Yandere. Actually have hints of Aho in her as well. Kryska (Alliance soldier lady): I'd class her as a Orekko although the requirements I found for it is a little bit hard to apply perfectly. I still believe it is an applicable character type for Kryska. This is also the document I have consulted MAINLY for the different archetypes. I hope this is a satisfyingly conclusive collection of statements.
