I don't know if I'm alone here, but I love game music. Even if I dislike a game, I can play it for the music a lot of the time.
Starting off, of course: While it was all free stuffs cept for the awesome intro/ED, I really like Sunrider's soundtrack. Each song fits perfectly, in my opinion. Along with Sunrider, I also love the music from the Touhou games (though i never listen to any of the remixed stuff, honestly). Persona 3 Portable, I think, had my favorite ED, since it fit perfectly. Valkyria Chronicles had several BGM songs that were iconic to me, as well.
What about you guys? What game has the best BGM or Intro/EDs to you?
edit: Changed Favorite to be the non-American way because that's how all the others are.

I like video game music in general (long time fan of ocremix) but the music from ragnarok online has always stood out to me. especially in contrast with the mediocrity of the game itself (still, I played it for far too much before WoW was a thing).

While I can't say I follow too much in terms of following game soundtracks as I have an awful memory and tend to forget when I stop playing, I am firm believer that music can improve gameplay (and not in the guitar hero sense either). For me even if I do not like a track in an OST, as long as it suits the occasion it is used I can appreciate it.
In terms of a favourite atmospheric music I always think about the Phoenix Wright games, they are not particularly complex yet maintain the mood of the scene you are playing (also you get to defend a orca in the 5th one).
While not a particularly exciting intro, I love the main theme from Dark Cloud - its one of those tracks that makes me nostalgic as it was one of the first RPGs I played.

I'm quite a fan of Two Steps From Hell. Lots of great stuff from them, really too many to name as I virtually like them all lol. But if I had to pick a few, probably Black Blade, After the Fall, Promise, Dreammaker, Men of Honor, Compass, yea this doesn't do justice at all but it's a start. As for game music, here's a memorable one from Dragon Age: Origins, Ferelden at War
I particularly like the final half a minute, from the gradual build up of tension midsong, which features the charge of hopeless odds against the Darkspawn. Epic, inspiring and heart rending. This one is good too: I Am The One
The first theme from the Banner Saga soundtrack, We Will Not Be Forgotten. Also Strewn Across a Bridge and Of Our Bones, The Hill. Really atmospheric pieces that enhance the mood in-game. And I should mention Final Fantasy tracks as well, seeing as we should stick with JRPGs somewhat, so I will end with some happier sounding favorites here: Liberi Fatali and Waltz for the Moon (don't groan at me please )

I tend to have lots of favourites: for example I have a list of 100 RPG tracks in my music folder and this barely covers my basics. In general, almost anything by the Falcom jdk band will be amazing (my favourites are this one from Cold Steel, and this one from Trails in the Sky). Gust Sound team however is pretty cool itself (here is one of its standout pieces). Besides that, music by Daisuke Ishiwatari, Shoji Meguro (which also made the Persona 3 soundtrack) and Motoi Sakuraba when he's actually motivated are all pretty great (I particularly love this one from Daisuke, this one from Meguro and this last from Sakuraba). I also lately have gained an appreciation for some of Kenji Ito's classics too ( this track is definitely one of his finest). In a different style, a love most of what FreQuency does for the Armored Core soundtracks ( like [Day After Day], the trailer music for Armored Core: Verdict Day) Overall the music I'm hearing depends a lot on my mood, so my list can change depending on the month (the Phoenix Wright OST is also very good for example).

my favourites are this one from Cold Steel Sugoi!! I now have a new favorite ^^ Cold Steel seems popular lately. I wish there weren't so many platforms sometimes, it's hard to catch all the good ones when they're all over the place.

Age of Wonders III has some pretty epic music. This one stood out the most to me, and was a factor for my decision to get the game.

Currently there's multiple OSTs that I carry around on an MP3 player:
-Sunrider, obviously
-Darkest Dungeon
-A fan campaign for Freespace Open, Blue Planet, that has a great selection of music (some of it made specifically for the campaign)
-Mass Effect, X-Com and Deus Ex (entire series)
-DOOM (the metal editions that were recommended for Brutal Doom)

-Darkest Dungeon - Return to the Warrens
NICE now my list: in the 1st place: Hans Zimmer - Epilogue "Main Theme" - Crysis 2 Soundtrack
you could have heard this music during playing Crysis 2 or in the trailer for Crysis 2 2nd place probably: Battlefield 1942 Main theme by Joel Eriksson ADVICE FOR EVERYBODY: WHEN POSTING YOUTUBE LINK, PUT IT IN [ SPOILER ] !!! THX when there are a lot of youtube videos on same page, it will take ages to load. Hiding vid in spoiler should help with precaching resources.
