This is Forum Mafia! And you can blame me for it!
What is Forum Mafia?!
If you've ever played/heard of the party game Mafia (Also know as "Town" or "Werewolf") it's like that! Except slower paced because it's on an internet forum.
How do you play?!
The game rotates between two phases: Night and Day phases. Night phases are where people with Power Roles carry out there roles, such as the Mafia attempting to murder someone, or the Detective investigating someone. The Day Phase is when everybody posts their thoughts on the game, politics and argues for lynches and not lynches, and ultimately attempts to lynch one of the mafia, while the mafia attempt to deflect flack from each other, and get a regular townie lynched (or throw their partner(s) under the bus in an attempt to look clean in the eyes of the town).
The game will start in a Night phase and go to a Day phase and then back to a Night phase.
Night Phases last 24 hours*, during which nobody can post in the Game Thread**, and people with Power Roles send the Gamemaster their targets via whatever method they so desire (Discord, Forum PM, Final Fantasy XIV Online tell). Power Roles which have cooperation (such as Mafia) can of course communicate by whichever method they so desire, but only one message from teams to the Gamemaster (if there are two Mafia, only one Mafia needs to tell the Gamemaster their target, unless there is some sort of gimmick, but for the first few games, we'll keep the gimmicks to a very non-existent roar).
Day Phases last 48 hours*, during which everyone can (and must, to remain active) post. They can discuss theories, tell stories, even RP a little bit to make the game more interesting (though I recommend keeping RP to a minimum for the first few games while people wet their feet) and must ultimately *TRY* and Lynch someone (though this doesn't always happen).
For the first few games, as I said, we'll keep things simple. The only roles will be:
Townie - Standard Person: Votes and argues during the day, prays to whatever deity motivates them that they don't die during the night.
Mafia - Scummy Mafia Person: Votes and argues during the day, tries to murder someone during the night.
Doctor - Helpful Townie Person: Votes and argues during the day, tries to save the murder victim during the night.
Detective - Helpful Townie Person: Votes and argues during the day, investigates one person during the night to find out their alignment.
I'll go into more detailed rules if we get a game going, but for now, I'll leave this open for interested parties to sign-up.
