I've been sitting on this idea for awhile, and part of what I enjoy about Sunrider is how much character the VO has. Unfortunately, most of the NPCs in LD can only Beep and Boop their orders, which feels a bit incomplete compared to the others. I would like to endeavor to ask the community to help with brainstorming ideas for lines, and volunteers for lending their voices for these unvoiced ships in an unofficial mod. I've already implemented my own mod for the Ceran Gunboat in the modding community, so I know how to do a bit of audio engineering, put the content into the game, and can provide a modicum of voice direction. Feel free to post your ideas for ships here, or message me for help with volunteering (no experience, no problem)

The ships I'm primarily interested in completing are the mercenary ships: Union Battleship, and Falcon. Since these ships are with you a bit more, I'd like to make sure they're a bit more fleshed out. If there's enough interest I'd like to get some of the smaller roles too, like the Alliance Shield ship, Carrier and Infantry. And if you feel like going a darker route, I definitely have ideas for the temporary Pact ships too.

We have discussed in another thread about the ryuvian falcons and I think they might be ai piloted so id recommend a computerised voice, similar to ravens in starcraft 2 I guess an idea could be 'Falcon online' when the falcon is selected or 'Delivering Payload' for when kinetics are fired. Or maybe all of Avas lines slightly ajusted and in a robotic voice

The Falcon is interesting, because we don't know who or what pilots it. The Store description is that it's a ghost ship, destroyer class. Given that ancient Ryuvia seemed to have a lot of women as prestigious warriors, I wanted to combine those two ideas. I'd like to think it's something like the AI of a long deceased warrior, probably manned by a possessed brew, or something. If you've heard of the Eldar Banshees, I'd like to try for them to sound like that. Interestingly, Ryuvians named this ship after a bird of prey, which helped me give flavor for brainstorming lines. Here are some example lines Falcon in the wings - selection Talon cannons engaged - kinetics We soar - movement Return from whence you came - kill Our wings have been clipped - debuffed We fight for the Sharr - selection *Xena War Cry* - kill Fear the Falon's chant - kill We wander the battlefield again - selection Quill pulse lasers - laser Engaging energy weapons - laser With speed - movement The Void awaits - death
These aren't finalized by any means. If anything I could use more generic lines. Triggers for lines are Selection, Movement (forwards and backwards), different levels of Damage, Cursed, Buffed, Kinetics, Lasers, Successful hit, Miss, Evasion and Death.

Nice I can really use some of these bits. More minds are better than one. With this, I can put out the first draft of the Falcon's script: Selected:

Requiescat in pace What still remains is a volunteer to lend their voice to the ship. Would be really cool if I could get a feminine voice, seeing as Ryuvia has a matriarchal bent to its military. In other news, I have a potential volunteer for the Union Battleship! Union ships seek profit, skirting legal issues, and self-protection. The battleship is ostentatiously a mining ship with state of the art lasers, and equipped with kinetics, assault, and a gravity beacon that can even move asteroids.

I'm glad I could help I'm assuming that you're looking for lines similar to the union frigates for the union battleship I took some influence from the frigates with theses line I think we deserve a raise - kill I'll be expecting a bonus captain - firing Our Lasers are not designed for combat! - firing Remeber, this is a mining vessel... - move forwards

Alrighty, I've been hammering out another first draft for a script, this time for the Union Battleship. Since this mining vessel enforces the Union's interests, I gave it more of a strongman flavor to its business practices. See what you think, improve or add any lines. Selection Talk is cheap. Been busy the last week brainstorming more lines and profiles for ships. Next on my list is the Alliance Support Cruiser, otherwise known as the shield ships deployed in the battle for Cera. I thought a meaty voice for such a bulwark of a role would be appropriate. This is the draft: Support Cruiser at the ready - selection Good offense needs the best defense - selection Schiltrum, here to serve - selection Do you need my Aegis ? - selection Protecting the vanguard - forward Phalanx advancing - forward Defending our rear - backwards I've got your back - backwards Reforming the Foulkon - move Adjusting the line of defense - move I can't hold her together - death Generators are fusing! Abandon sh- death Generators at full load - buffed Now I'm even beefier - buffed Shield density falling - cursed Electronics have gone to shit - cursed Damage is nominal - damage We've weathered worse - damage Bugger - damage Testudo holding fast - evade Like water off our scales - evade
Next on my list is another Support, the dreaded Pact Support. This Ryder has a no weapons, but plenty of debuffs. I imagine them to have something of a sneaky, or sabateur personality. Lots of room for contributions here. Detecting multiple bogies -selection PACT's enemies are my enemies -selection I don't wish to hurt, only harm -debuffing Disabling the foe - debuffing Let me show you a secret - debuffing I fixed your problem -buffing Hacking solution deployed -either I need scissors! - cursed 4-6-7-5-6-B (Fuk in hexadecimal)-death

When it comes to debuffs, Do you plan to have plans to have specific lines for each debuff that the Support can inflict or just have every debuff have the same lines?
If the former is true I have some more ideas. Attempted a slightly different theme here.

When it comes to debuffs, Do you plan to have plans to have specific lines for each debuff that the Support can inflict or just have every debuff have the same lines? As far as I know, the only "event" that triggers a debuff line is merely 'Cur':["Directory/Line1.ogg", etc. meaning, the 'Cur' function is a catch-all when applying a curse, the in-code name for applying a debuff. In layman's terms, I don't think there are specific lines for individual debuffs. If there were, that could be pretty fun, especially for something as specialized as the PACT Support. Resident modder bigfoot or programmer Vaendryl might know for sure. There are actually a number of voice lines that aren't used anymore, such as when making an illegal move, or insufficient energy. In MoA there lines for shooting down missiles too, when that was an animation. Missiles also had an extra line when firing the last stock, but I think that was just rolled into the regularly used pool when LibDay english voices were patched in. Which is why sometimes you'll hear Ava saying missiles are dry. Something I wish we had lines for is Grav Gun usage. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a event for that in the code, and even if there were, Claude doesn't have lines for it. I'm pretty much just interested in getting more personality into the NPC ships. It's a tribute for how well the VOs played their roles, that the NPCs feel almost incomplete in comparison. And if I can get contributions from the fans into the mod, that proves just how cool Sunrider is to a lot of people.

The Cur lines are spoken whenever a ship is cursed, there's no way in the base code to distinguish one curse weapon from another, theoretically it shouldn't be too hard to add. I'll look into it on fri/sat.

I noticed that you dont have any lines for the union battleships gravity cannon.
I see some issues with the weapon as it can be used both offensively and defensively. So the weapon would require a small modification to trigger different voice lines depending on if the target is an ally or an enemy.
In terms of voice lines. I'd recommend that the gravity gun is split into two different categories one offensively against enemies and one defensively to help allies. I think this would allow you to add more personality to the ship.
Depending on how the voice line is triggered it might be easier to split the weapon into two as well but I doubt this would be necessary.

Alrrrrighty. Back after some stuff. 白龍: If you're willing, I'd be glad for the help. That moves us even closer! Also, I was able to piece together a quick draft for the PACT Fast Cruiser. It's a standard foe, but prioritizes speed and getting into range to mess you up. A bit like the Phoenix in that respect. Selection: PACT Fast Cruiser, ready On your mark Get us to the front We're set to ambush
Forwards: Move fast and strike quickly Up close and personal Flanking speed Into knife range!
Backwards: Returning to formation Readjusting course I'll be back in no time at all
Kinetic/Assault: Commencing assault Witness my speed! Rend them into scrap We brought guns to this fight
Kill: Fast AND deadly Die a traitor's death Outta of my way
Success: Hit 'em again! A quick in and out PACT prevails!
Miss: Prepare another shot I need more speed Get us closer Captain!
Damaged: Speed holes make me faster Report damage! Keep engines at full!
Evade: The "Fast" isn't just for show Speed is king! Combat manuevers!
Death: For PACT! Finished... I've gone plaid
