So now that I have video capture technology, I figured "why the hell not use it!". And then I looked at the first Sunrider game and thought... "Why do I do this to myself?"
And so here you have it, my space whale playthrough! In glorious video format! I'll be posting the videos in their own posts. Sorry, I know how much you love my commentary but none this time. Unless you really want me to.
I unfortunately do not have a video for mission #1. But who needs that? It's just 2 Pact missile dudes. Shoot them enough times and they go dead.

Yeah, In my MoA space whale playthrough I occasionally resorted to save scumming. I believe it was 2-3 times overall. If that makes me a noob, so be it, I dont like having to abandon a battle because I missed several >90% hits. Anything < 85% I won't, I could have used aim up or increased my accuracy in a different way but I decided not to.
Obviously, I am aware that 90 does not = 100 and if enough >90% hit rate shots are attempted, one will miss.
My justification is that if I strategically create a situation that gives me a high chance of victory and I lose, my loss is less skill based and more rng based so its not entirely wrong to re-roll. I am quite a slow and methodical player so often I prefer simply re-rolling over playing the last 10-15 minutes all over again.
Maybe I'm just living in denial and I'm just a noob...
I am still working on the escort mission for mission 6. On my... 9th try probably. I completely restarted from the beginning and tried a double shot laser accuracy build on the Sunrider. Lasting a little longer but not long enough to destroy all enemy ships.
What do you mean that's not the point of the escort mission? Destroying all hostiles means I don't have to escort them anymore right?
Those 90% shots are a lie. They've probably;y missed 30% of the time for me! >:c
Right, I completely replayed from the beginning and switched my build. Focus laser energy cost -> energy accuracy -> energy damage. I skipped the Liberty repair and poured the rest into upgrades too for a total of 5/5/5 in energy weapons for the Sunrider.
Now... Off to mission 7. I'm probably going to continue off of the kill the chil- I mean diplomat route for mission 6 with this build.
Edit: Here is a redo of mission 6, kill the diplomats with laser build.
Shhhhh, shhhhhhh.... What matters, is that I beat it.
Ok but seriously. This was one of the hardest missions I've ever faced. Probably harder than the last mission in Liberation Day. I replayed the game 4 times for this mission. I played this mission specifically well over 40 times. So, my upgrades for this mission. Sunrider: Mark 4 energy reactor (120 energy) Mark 3 Kinetic Energy Cost (59 cost) Mark 5 Energy Damage (300 damage) Mark 3 Energy Cost (You only need mark 2 for this. So you can save the money elsewhere) Mark 2 Missile Damage Mark 1 Missile Storage
Liberty: Mark 3 Energy Reactor (preferably mark 4) Mark 1 Shield Power (40 shield)
Blackjack: Mark 2 Energy Damage (240 damage) Mark 1 Energy Cost (64 energy cost) Mark 3 Missile Damage (52 damage)
As well as 2 rockets and the liberty repair boost from the store.
The opening moves are super crucial What you want to do here is focus down 1 of the BBs immediately. PACT BBs will launch 1,000 damage rockets at you so you better get rid of one of them. 2 rockets will bring it down to 136 or so HP. Hit it with machine guns from Asaga and Icari and it should be dead. Once it's gone, the entire upper group of PACT units will no longer have shields. Use lasers to bring down the PACT frigate.
You want to focus down the DPS units in this order. Frigate > PACT Bombers > 2nd PACT BB > Cruiser At this point, the grunts were all bunched together. I was able to line them up and wipe out 6 of them with a Vanguard. More units will warp in, but it shouldn't be that tough. What's important is you keep a mental note of the turn. Turn 8 is when you will die. You must get to the other side either ON turn 8 or before. Probably on.
This is one mission you will NOT be able to do legitly. You WILL have to savescum for this mission. Hella alot of times.
kalwinters: Is Sunrider-vn.com coming back up again sometime? I wanted to look through the old lore posts describing the state of the galaxy, unless someone knows if they're posted somewhere else.
