I would love to see more exploration about the Prototype and their inner struggle. Right now Alice and Chigara is trying to gain total control of the mindstream. I bet Alpha would try to strike a deal with Kayto as her plan of stopping Crow is ruined by Alice and Claude have abandoned her. This way we will have a new waifu joining the crew along with Lynn (maybe a new Ryder as well since the Prototype use Nightmare Ascendant in Liberation Day).

I came into the series rather late looking at most of the forum posts around here. I only heard about Sunrider after it went on sale on GoG because Steam is flooded with way too many games. I hope Sunrider gets a proper ending to Liberation Day because I have enjoyed all the iterations thus far. I can understand people's disappointment with Lib, but after playing all the dlc for it I came away satisfied and wanting more. For the record, as much as I enjoy the waifu stuff, I really loved learning the combat because it reminded me of fire emblem. Man, I wish Love in Space had that triple A finding to pump out a game every year or two...

I have to agree that it wouldn't take too many alterations of the current formula to turn Sunrider into Fire Emblem in Space. I mean, that would just sell like hotcakes - especially if the combat was further refined (almost perfect right now for what it is).

So quiet, is everyone holding their breath waiting for LiS to make their next announcement?

I mean, that would just sell like hotcakes - especially if the combat was further refined (almost perfect right now for what it is). This would please me. Like you said, the gameplay is good but could use refinement. The battlefield is effectively tiny because of how much range everything has and battles have a lack of things that encourage or force players to use different strategies to win battles. The most viable strategy for nearly any mission on default difficulty or higher is huddle in the bottom left corner and pick off enemies as they come to you. Unless you're Icari with stealth moving forward is asking to get focused and destroyed very quickly.

So quiet, is everyone holding their breath waiting for LiS to make their next announcement? Personally? No. I have been around this industry, and disappointed enough that I do not hold my breath for anything anymore. (edit to add) Though the Love in space team Did want to make it pretty clear that Sunrider would return at the end of Liberation Day. and there is the whole issue about Lord crow and the ebon ruviian fleet deciding to make an appearance in the final cut scene, which does seem to be why the prototypes wanted to stick their oar in, since it seemed to be the best way to save humanity. But why do Prototypes care?!?!?!?!

Looking at LiS's Patreon update page November 15th post Sunrider is looking abandoned. Our New Project Schedule: - Project 7: Idol Empire (active) - Project 8: ProM (on hold) - Project 9: Wonderland (on hold, following the completion of 7 + 8)

Wonderland is probably a project codename, something that happens all the time in game development. That doesn't ensure that it is indeed Sunrider-related, but I wouldn't rule it out, either. That said, it's still a frustrating situation. I'll admit to being rather vexed when I learned about ProM, and the addition of a Starnova spinoff is just salt in the wound. The wait during Starnova's development process was made palatable by the assumption that Sunrider development would resume immediately afterward, with the staff just needing a bit of a break in order to avoid burnout. Now that assumption appears to have been proven false, and it's hard to shake the fear that the devs have abandoned their existing audience in favor of greener pastures. The biggest ray of hope here is that Sunrider is something that Samu-kun started envisioning years before First Arrival began development. Early versions of the concept date back over a decade, and I have to assume he's in it for the long haul.
On a side note, one benefit of this is that LiS appears to be experimenting more and more with these new projects, switching engines, trying out animation techniques, introducing new styles of gameplay, etc. Even though it means waiting longer, I like to think that these projects are functioning as guinea pigs for the team, letting them see what works and what doesn't and allowing them to improve at refining the former elements. When Sunrider eventually does return, it will benefit from the relevant aspects of this experience, resulting in a more polished, technically impressive product.

Looks like I was too slow. Was going to post here since @nemjen only edited his post in Project Progress so you can't tell its actually changed since he posted back in January.
No ETA but at least we finally know for certain it hasn't been completely abandoned.

See how many things are left open? That's why the ending did not satisfy me. Sunrider has one hell of a story and character desing. Leaving the game like this is just a waste.
Once again, sorry for the bad english.
