After I download and try to start the game it shows that I'm playing it on steam and then some time after it just goes back to online. I tried verifying the game cache and it says it will acquire 86 files but after that everything is still the same. Tried reinstalling multiple time but I get the same result. Have no clue on what else to do, running as admin doesn't change anything, I'm all out of ideas.

Try holding the shift key (this should trigger a renderer menu to appear) while launching the game and change the graphics renderer to directx. If unsuccessful repeat the process but change it to opengl 1.0.

Nothing appeared, still the same as before.

Have you tried resetting Steam and then trying to above steps again?
I would need something like a traceback to get an idea about what is happening to cause the game to close itself, if you go into your main directory do you have either a file called errors.txt or traceback.txt and the date modified matches your previous attempt at running? If so could you open this file and paste the information it provides into this thread?
Alternatively you could try looking at the following if no such file is available:
- Ensure your graphics driver is up to date - Ensure that your anti virus / security software is not blocking the exe - If you use multiple monitors try setting the display to a single monitor - Close Steam and then re launch it as administrator before trying to launch the game again - Disable Steam overlay and then launch the game again
Edit: Run the exe directly outside of Steam (future readers).

I had this same problem a while back, where the games wouldn't launch and validating files wouldn't actually do anything. It happened right after I did a windows 10 update for my computer. However, when I did the "hold shift and force render directx" thing, mine started working again. Oh, I should also say that I don't have Academy and this problem spans all 3 games.

Only have one monitor and all my drivers are up to date, my antivirus isn't blocking the game. Since i can't open the game I don't have either errors.txt or traceback.txt .Only files i found were some .pyo files and that's about it. Shift force render still won't work.

From where do you start the game? From steam itself? I always need to start my Sunrider.exe right from the folder at the workplace to get it running (c\Steam\...\). Even the link at desktop didn't work at the beginning. Needed to change "steam://rungameid/xxxxxxx" into the actual place at the workplace.

Even if the game does not appear to have launched it will have attempted to run the set up prior to crashing, usually you will still get a visual prompt of the traceback when this has happened. As this prompt is the result of reading one of these two files it should still be available even if Renpy itself does not initially display the traceback.
Lets try a different angle, if you go directly into the Windows Renpy library folder ( looks something like this: \Steam\steamapps\common\Sunrider Academy\lib\windows-i686 ) there will be another exe for Academy. Are you able to get a result from loading this exe?

Sorry for the delay, tried starting it from both the normal path and the Renpy folder again, I still get the same result, game loads. I can see that the game itself opened as I saw it in Task Manager for a few moments before it disappeared.

Perhaps your Visual C++ Redistributable is outdated and this is causing a conflict, have you run all recent and pending Windows updates?
Additionally if you are using Windows 10 or a Window 8/8.1 have you tried running the exe in compatibility mode for the OS version below?

I have been having this same issue. When I verify the integrity of the game cache it says 86 files failed to validate and will be required. I have uninstalled/reinstalled making sure I was logged in steam as an administrator. Holding shift did not do anything either. In addition to having issues with the steam version I have not been able to open the original download from Denpa. I made sure to add an exception for the .exe and attempting to open from \Steam\steamapps\common\Sunrider Academy\lib\windows-i686 had the same issues. Changing the compatibility settings did not work either.
The Denpa version worked before and I only dl'd the steam version for the first time today after the other version wasn't working. I had not played the game since May though.

It starts to get a bit fiddly from here so it may end up doing a bit of trial and error until the click is identified for your system.
As you appear to be using windows try going into display on the control panel and change the zoom to 100% (I believe it defaults 125%). After applying try launching either the Steam or the Denpa version again and see if you have any luck.

Are you able to get a result from loading this exe? I've been having the "will-not-launch" problem ever since I upgraded to Windows10. (I did not do a "clean" upgrade.) The game worked fine before that. I have since tried everything mentioned in this forum thread, but nothing has worked. I have run the executable in the Rnpy folder while watching the Task Manager. The process/game begins, then ends after a few seconds. The only visual is that of the cursor spin that indicates Windows is "busy." There is neither an error.txt nor traceback.txt file left behind. (I searched my entire computer for one.) The only thing I've been able to salvage which may be of help is the Windows Event log. If you can think of any other way I might be able to retrieve useful information regarding this issue, please let me know.
