OK, I was a little board, and I wrote this:
Name: Mist of Stormhawk
Ryder Name: Nightwolf
Flightsuit Color: Black
Ryder Colors: Black with blue details
Eye Color: Purple
Hair Color: Black
Age: 20s (like everyone else)
Planet of Origin: Fenris, The Underempire
Combat Abilities:
• Psi-Cannons “Mind and Matter.”: Her main weapon for scrapping enemies, Psi-Cannons hit like Kinetics while shooting like Lasers. Sadly, it costs a minor premium of energy. Ignores Shields.
• Psi-Blasters “Laying waste.”: Like the Psi-Cannons, they are the best of both worlds: combining the accuracy of pulsers, and the damage of assaults, but again, costing a minor premium of energy.Ignores Shields, susceptible to armor.
• Psi-Barrier “Nothing can harm us!”: Cannot be used in conjunction with any other ability, utilizes ALL energy. Channeling her psionic energy through her ryder, she projects a powerful barrier around herself, drastically reducing all incoming damage to all friendlies for the next Enemy Phase. Doing this is exhausting on her, and she will be unable to act the next Sunrider Phase.
• Psi-Focus “Flatten them!”: Cannot be used in conjunction with any other ability, utilizes ALL energy. Channeling her psionic energy through her ryder, she unleashes a psionic field that seeps into the weapons and systems of her allies, increasing both accuracy and damage of all friendlies for the remainder of the current Sunrider Phase. Doing this is exhausting on her, and she will be unable to act the next Sunrider Phase.
• Psi-Storm “UNRIVALED DESTRUCTION!”: Cannot be used in conjunction with any other ability, utilizes ALL energy. Channeling her psionic might through her ryder, she unleashes a devastating storm of raw destruction in a small area. Ryders take extra damage, and surviving enemy ryders may be panicked the next turn, attacking whatever is closest, be it friend or foe. Doing this is exhausting on her, and she will be unable to act the next Sunrider Phase. Generates extra aggro for destroyed units.
• Psi-Panic “Your mind is weak!”: Causes panic in an enemy ryder. Some Ryders are immune.
Story: Born the first daughter of a prominent Underempire Clan, she is one of the few psychic people that have emerged in the last one hundred years, but is, at least in her mind, one of the most powerful. Her custom-built Nightwolf ryder is customized to her unique status. Despite her apparent barbarian upbringing, she is quite learned, and has spent many an hour pouring over the Underempire’s vast archives. Like the Underempire, she is largely neutral in the war between PACT and the Solar Alliance, but nevertheless follows Shields, since she respects strength and intelligence (which, at least in her mind, Shields has plenty of), and does have a moral compass that tends to frown upon using Super Dreadnaughts on large metropolitan areas.
• The Underempire: The Underempire is a loose confederation of planets that, if borders were to be drawn, would likely encompass the entire galaxy, though their more powerful systems tend to be located either around the galactic core, or the galactic fringe, with an emphasis on the latter. The Underempire has existed since before the height of the Ryuvian Empire, and has watched, from the shadows, the rise and fall of several Ryuvian Empire Dynasties, the ultimate fall of the Ryuvian Empire, the rise of the New Empire, the rise of the Solar Alliance, and the Rise of PACT and the fall of the New Empire. The Empire itself is ruled by the enigmatic “Council of Thirteen”. Given the vast extent of the Underempire, and a desire to remain in the shadows of more powerful galactic entities, they are well versed in the art of intelligence and information gathering. They are also known to utilize examples of ancient Ryuvian technology more heavily than any of the more “public” organizations in the galaxy. Furthermore, they possess a great deal of ancient Ryuvian schematics, though many of them are incomplete in some form or fashion, rendering them useless.
• The Council of Thirteen: The Council of Thirteen is made up of twenty-seven individuals, each chosen to represent the twenty-seven regions that make up the Underempire. These individuals are chosen by everything from democratic elections, dynastic inheritance, gladiatorial tournament and sometimes even more exotic feats. The Council mainly directs the overall efforts and resources of the Empire at large, leaving the regions and planets largely independent. This manifests in an “outlook” that the sitting council has, which tends to swing between “inward” and “outward”. While “inward”, the resources are directed towards improving the infrastructure of worlds, modernizing the numerous militias and defense forces of the Underempire, and fortifying current holdings. When “outward”, the council is focused on expansions, adding more planets to their umbrella, usually by targeting fringe and underdeveloped worlds that wouldn’t be missed by larger powers using their peerless skill at subterfuge to bring the worlds under their control. Alternatively, they target worlds that are undergoing mass unrest, taking advantage of the chaos to bring it into the fold.
Character: Mist is calm and collected for the most part, usually by dint of her prominent position in the Underempire which means she tends to know quite a bit, both about the past and the present. She is well-versed in the history of the galaxy, and knows quite a bit about everything from ancient Ryuvian tech to Veniczar S. Fontana’s favorite food. Of course, even the knowledge of the Underempire has its limitations, and somethings are just so old and forgotten that they are, indeed, forgotten… And it’s those situations that she begins to really emerge: excitable, twitchy, and perhaps just a little uncontrolled and reckless. She has a beef with Cosette Cosmos after the “half-baked Queen Bitch wannabe of the Pirates” raided a Fenrisian convoy and managed to escape while Mist was escorting it.
Possible In-Game Quotes:
Mist: “No, I can’t read minds. My mind is a literal weapon, yes, but I am telekinetic, not a telepath, meaning my powers do not really extend to the minds of others, rather the rest of the physical universe. At best, I can do some limited mind-screwing, perhaps make your nightmares a reality for a split second. So while I can stop the Veniczar’s bullets in their tracks, and make your computers shoot better, I can’t read your minds. Not that there would be much to read on this ship anyways.”
Icari: “J-just what are you implying?!”
Mist: “Nothing. Nothing at all.”
Mist: “We are ruled by the Council of Thirteen.”
Kayto: “What is the Council of Thirteen?”
Mist: “The Council of Thirteen is comprised of the twenty-seven rulers of the twenty-seven regions of the Underempire. They guide our resources.”
Kayto: “Why is it called the Council of Thirteen when there’s twenty-seven people on it?”
Mist: “Because originally there were thirteen regions, and I guess no one felt like renaming it?”
Kayto: “Why?”
Mist: “I dunno? Because ‘The Council of Thirteen’ sounds more ominous than ‘The Council of Twenty-Seven’? Because the Council of Thirteen is bunch of lazy idiots who can’t be bothered to change their name?”
Kayto: “What type of planet is Fenris?”
Mist: “Winter all year round, lots of snow, ice and cold, and the best ice-beaches the galaxy has to offer. I can tell you about some of the best tourist locations. Believe it or not, there are some spectacular vistas.”
Kayto: “Forget I asked.”
Mist: "I'll admit, I'm actually surprised. I can tell you, with a reasonable amount of certainty, what Veniczar Arcadius had breakfast this morning. And yet, I had no clue that the heir to what's left of the Ryuvian Empire was on the exact same ship as I was since I came aboard!"
Fontana: "We are eternal, Captain. Surrender both yourself and the Princess. This day belongs to PACT."
Mist: "The Underempire laughs at your assumptions, Veniczar. We have borne witness to the rise and fall of the God-Emperors of Ryuvia, the rise of the New Empire, the ultimate fall of the Holy Ryuvian Empire, the rise of the Solar Alliance, the rise of PACT, the fall of the New Empire, and we will witness the fall of PACT."
Cosette: "This will be the last charge, of Cosette Cosmos, TERROR OF THE STARS...!
Mist "...Allow me to provide a brick wall for you charge into, you half-ass-baked Pirate-Queen-Bitch wannabe."
Mist: "Veniczar S. Fontana. It's been too long."
Fontana: "If it isn't my dear old dead enemy's Underempire minion."
Mist: "The very same. I am honored that you remember. Though I am no longer a minion. You speak to the Shipmaster of the Sunrider-A. But, who is that standing next to you? My, my. Looks like you've been digging, Veniczar. Admiral Emil Kuushana. The Underempire knows you quite well. Quite the miracle worker. Until Arcadius showed you the door and the bricks."
Kuushana: "I have heard of your 'Underempire', Shipmaster. You will serve PACT one day. Just as the Imperialists of the Alliance will."
Mist: "Perhaps. Perhaps not. Regardless, I imagine you'd fall short of Kayto Shields when it came to combat. You may have been able to predict every move of the New Empire, but Shields? Shields was unpredictable. Hanging back and lobbing missiles one minute, then putting the pedal to the metal and shoving kinetics down everyone's throat the next, only to turn around and let rip the lasers after that. It was annoying at times, but hey, it worked."
Kayto (Offscreen): "Was I really that annoying in combat...?"
