Hi there, I quickly looked over the boards for this, but found none. After Liberation Day (and probably after REturn), will there be a concluding game for Sunrider? Liberation Day's ending left a hole inside me, that I need to see through the end of the story. I'm not to make spoilers here, but I really need to know if we will ever have a final act for Sunrider. Any help appriciated I did not find the right solution from the internet. References:- forum.loveinspace.moe/thread/250/final-arc-sunriderThanks

Following the release of Liberation Day, LiS announced that Project Starnova was entering full production with what appears to be a tentative release date of 2017. As REturn was announced shortly after I feel as though it is safe to assume once this DLC releases this will be their main project moving forward, once this concludes I am sure we will see or hear about another Sunrider entry. Quoted from Patreon: Ben Jennings (Mags)Is it safe to assume Sunrider is getting shelved until the completion of Starnova? Love in SpaceI doubt it, there's a lot of planning work (market analysis, designing, hiring) to do for future games which generally gets done months in advance before a game's announced. (eg. Academy was in planning stages during the development of MoA months before it was publically announced.) Sometimes it's convenient to do things simultaneously, like we could get agreements made in regards to the cast for Starnova while we were also recording voices for LD. Most of it remains secret though so people will never know. :x *** Mag's narration: From the sound of it while Starnova will be the focus, this will not deter them from collecting assets for the next Sunrider game if the opportunity arises.
***To the best of my knowledge we have not yet received a more definitive answer then this. While this is not a solid 'Yes' it is also not a 'No we are done with Sunrider'. I doubt we will get a better answer then this until Starnova has been released, which seems to be taking longer then originally planned.

Now that's memory lane, a post from before I joined LiS.
The best way to treat this subject is a new Sunrider will only exist after we've confirmed it is in production (news post / press release / social media) - we're only thinking about Starnova right now.
Until then the answer to this question doesn't change from maybe.

The cynic in me says it'll happen if making another Sunrider is profitable for LiS (including opportunity cost). Maybe it's not what LiS wants (Sunrider is Sam's baby in a way so it's not as if he isn't motivated and I know the folks must have scraped to get Sunrider part 1 and 2 out for free). Still every commercial endeavor has to account for the economic truth that making video games is a very challenging industry. Opportunity cost is important, it's why Valve basically doesn't make games anymore as they have Steam, or why there are so many low quality games that exist but are still profitable.
___ Digression: I think the general secrecy surrounding games' true costs (coupled with lack of awareness by the typical gaming consumer, even if we see headlines of studios going bust) plays a role in this. Eg the various kickstarters that can't possibly have raised enough money for a game. Even Muv Luv which raised more than a million on KS I'm pretty sure lost money given ixtl/age was sold (with 90+% of the shares wiped out), Degica imploded (?) and the sales were nowhere near the cost. Although my own estimates of costs of games may be inaccurate as well. My estimates are based off typical salaries on glassdoor and some industry knowledge as a general programmer but not as a game dev. Now that I think about it I might be able to glean more information from looking at SEC filings but those are really hard to read. ____ Anyway, for folks who want a Sunrider sequel the best way of getting one is making sure Starnova is a success. Promote it everywhere. Worst case maybe Sam blesses a fan project and goes the route Tearring Saga Part 3 went (aka released for free by the dev + friends who chipped in on their free time ____ Another digression: So given the true cost of production, I chuckled when some fans of DH told us they would give us 300 euros to make a sequel (which I estimated to cost at least 2.7 million for a sequel if we paid folks to do it, unlike the original which was made by experienced modders who volunteered). On the other hand, I know as a fan myself that $300 is considered a significant amount of money and near the upper limit of what I would consider (and basically only if I'm getting some good rewards). Kinda ironic.

Kinda ironic. I'd fund the hell out of a Sunrider sequel! Frankly I wouldn't have spend any money (or at least not that much) for Starnova if it weren't for LiS. I'm not that interested in Idols, not my game setting. However the demo presented great quality and with the chance of a further Sunrider I decided to support Starnova.
