*Note: Edited for Lore Inconsistencies* So as the title suggests, I find that the topic of aliens doesn’t come up that often in this particular incarnation of Sci-Fi. According to the scant lore we have on this subject matter, it’s likely all sentient alien races that have been encountered have already been extinguished by humanity. Barring comparisons to Warhammer 40k’s similar vein of human diplomacy (for those not following the Greater Good), it is worth noting that any such genocides would have been conducted by earlier human civilizations in the story such as the Holy Ryuvan Empire.
Any war against sentient alien species would thus predate the rise of the Alliance, Pact, the New Empire, or even the more recent yet much weaker Ryuvan Empire that existed during its war with the New Empire.
This is not to say that all sentient alien races could have been found and exterminated. Even thousands of years of human civilization would not possibly put a large dent in the amount of star systems that exist in the Milky Way. Humanity has always entertained the assumption that it knows everything it needs to and that there is nothing around the corner. I could easily imagine a new pocket of the galaxy revealing an entire civilization of aliens becoming a plot device to drive the narrative in a later Sunrider game.
So what I am asking is whether or not a Sunrider game would benefit from the introduction of aliens? It has worked well enough on its own as a human drama. What kind of aliens would we want? Distinct species that boggle our minds? Blatant human rip-offs that are us (I assume you’re human) but with strange appendages or pigments?
I am asking because I am bored...

Okay just a couple picky notes its not High buy Holy Ryuvian Empire and they weren't at war against the Solar Alliance they were actually allied with the Solar Alliance against the New Empire. That alliance soured after the battle at Far Port, the forces of the Solar Alliance and Holy Ryuvian Empire were able to liberate Far Port from the New Empire but the Solar Alliance went back on their deal and annexed Far Port as part of the Solar Alliance instead of allowing the Holy Ryuvian Empire to retake governance of the system.
As the the question of Aliens, I went with maybe. To throw Aliens in with the current Sunrider story I'd say 'no' but after things with Crow are wrapped up as a new direction, new story line, I'd say 'yes' that could be interesting. What those races should look like? I don't have the imagination for that, I'd probably look to other space fantasy works and borrow from them. One series I read a while ago had an aquatic life form capable of building cities underwater and machines to help them swim faster. Could be interesting trying to communicate with a species that chatters like dolphins or maybe songs like whales.

Oh, well, sorry - I had misinterpreted several parts of the lore it seems. I apologize, I'll go back and change it. (Edited and Noted) But of course, if such a scenario ever came to pass it would be after Crow has been dealt with. But an aquatic species would be an interesting choice, especially if it managed the unrivaled feat of becoming a space-faring civilization while starting off without ready access to fire. For my part I was thinking of a race of sentient mollusks that had to hide from human civilization to ensure their survival. I liked this image in particular: But of course, as sticking with certain sci-fi aesthetics, it can always be another race that bears more than a passing resemblance to humans. Also, I was having trouble with img editing on this site, so there are some quirks my my posts. But I should have it under control now.

Decidedly not.
The series has more than enough on its plate right now, and by the time the wide array of plot threads that are currently up in the air is resolved, odds are there won't be much more room to expand the story without it feeling like milking the franchise. The introduction of aliens in particular would almost certainly come across as jumping the shark.
I might, might be willing to make an exception for Space Whales, given that they've pseudo-existed in the series since the beginning and could make for some fun or even compelling scenes, depending on whether LiS portrays them as gags or awe-inspiring.
If Love in Space actually decides to continue the Sunrider series indefinitely, I'd prefer a timeskip of at least a decade to occur after the resolution of the current conflicts. We'd get to see how the galaxy has changed due to political shifts caused by the plot, and we'd be reintroduced to the surviving characters as older, wiser versions of themselves that are still quite hale and have room for personal change. And while this would certainly be ambitious, we could even see the various romance options developed into full-blown, seasoned marriages, each with its own quirks and dynamics.

No thanks. Introducing aliens is counterproductive after getting this far in the series. Finish the existing plotlines, please!

I suppose then that Sunrider works better as a human drama, which makes sense. Not every sci-fi setting needs aliens. It may serve as a later plot device if Sunrider does continue long after Crow's Plotline (however unlikely that might seem), but even then as Ensign said it would distract from what might bring people back to a later installment.

I would rather have space animal like space whale than alien. Can be cool if you can ride them.

I think if the current Sunrider story is done and they do a sequel or prequel that is chronologically removed from the current games, they could do it.
The current story already has too much on its plate in my opinion to also add new Alien factions into the mix.

The Prototype is already some kind of alien to me. They are a whole new intelligence race on a new level.

The Prototype is already some kind of alien to me. They are a whole new intelligence race on a new level. While they are very different from normal people, they are not what you would call "alien" - because they are still basically modified humans. This might mean that they are unable to successfully reproduce with a normal human being. A significant shift in genetic makeup is enough in the real world to create barriers between different groups even within the same species from interbreeding. This of course has never stopped Sci-Fi from producing half-human alien hybrids born of a loving union (as opposed to a symbiotic alien parasite horror show), but if Kayto and Chigara are actually able to have kids then that means on a genetic level the Prototypes are still otherwise humans or atleast lean in such a way. It does remain to be seen as to why, exactly, the Prototypes, Alice and Alpha were engineered with the genetic template of a short woman with discolored hair. The primary focus of their creation was a genius intellect that would augment current human research efforts. It's likely that when this choice was made it was assumed that a small girl would be easier to handle. Of course Alice showed them that it's not the size of the package so much as the size of the punch. Alice was probably the most dangerous fighter in the Galaxy up until the end of Liberation Day due to her genetic modifications and extensive combat experience in the PACT Revolution.

No. Aliens would only get in the way of the story.
The only possible exception would be alternate reality humans that have one small difference, like angel or demon wings. Or actual angels and demons. Then ghost maray could return as angel maray. Even that is un-necessary though.

I vote that we finally get space whales, but nothing else. We haven't had any evidence of aliens in the Sunrider universe thus far, and as others have pointed out, trying to juggle aliens on top of the many ongoing plot points would be too much.

I voted for maybe. My reasoning is that the Aliens in the present Sunrider universe are pretty much extinct because of the Holy Ryuuvian Empire maybe with their religious belief that aliens are seen as unholy creations you know like demons.
