...and then it's revealed that the player actually controls an Ethereal who controls Shields. And Shields is having none of that. PLOT TWIST. The Hive Mind Greatly approves...

I'm not saying that Yandere Chigara is the best thing that could have happened to her character.
But Yandere Chigara is the best thing that could have happened to her character.

Liberation day has come and gone. Now the critical moment approaches. Choose your waifu and prepare for battle!
Then comment to defend your waifus honor! Or something. Discussion is fun.

To be fair the waifu talk in ME was much more prevalent in the old forum. Especially before the 3rd game. Some of the waifu threads reached tens of thousands of pages.

...yeah. Chris banned me permanently for posting too much Gamer Poop. Long story short - romances, the many different options and continuing them all were big reasons people liked the games. At the very least they were a big reason for the "Core" fans who actually stayed invested.

But only Benjamin Motherfucking Sisko is allowed to punch ascended beings in the face! Why would he do that to himself...? Oh wait... God i hope this won't start some argument about Prophets and that ending... On another note, Prophets in DS9 are more of a God than Q is, and Claude being more similar to Q in many ways - that's what i meant when i wrote to think of her as of Q, she's 'god' but not a good one - rather someone who has god's powers but really don't know what to do with them and feels hopelessly bored. Sisko punches Q in one of the episodes though... that's what that was referencing.

Honestly I'm okay with the forced mance up till the end of LD now. That's mostly because the revised ending is an obvious set up for waifu choice in the future and I'm pretty sure our forced waifu will go from "So dere it makes you sick" to "Hey I thought Cosette was supposed to be our crazy Yandere?"

First Arrival and Mask of Arcadius are one game now. Liberation day is a sequel all its own.
You could just start up Liberation day and fill out a little check list for what you did. But that list doesn't really cover everything so most recommend playing through the former.
Also this is very important make sure you get the 2.0 beta before you start.

I think if LD had shipped with the content 2.0 has there would have been a lot less grief all around. As is 2.0 has confirmed the faith I have in this team. So here's hoping for the future.
I've also been able to edit my Steam review, my cautious recommendation is now much stronger. So once again I'm really glad you folks did this. Means a lot.

Either that or she was Maray back from the dead. That'd be weird. Oh it'd be weird, but it'd explain why she said the little sister route was locked in Academy. She was waiting for the right timeline. Oh my! Kayto really is a Siscon! Watch out Loli Space Pirates, Ancient Snipers, Hotheaded Royalty, and other sundry types!

Noting a LOT of players on Steam and Steam reviews STILL having lag during combat in Lib Day, despite the short animations. It's always been fine on my side and I believe most of the other testers as well so I don't know what the cause could be. If anyone on this forum is having lag, could you please post your computer specs and contact Vaen with it? Also state when does the lag occur... as in during enemy turns or your turn or say upon use of a specific weapon. I had the occasional instance of lag. Pretty much always during enemy turns. Never more than a few seconds though.

She deleted his porn collection. ALL of it. And had his hidden Space Whale fetish exposed. To his friends. He put his civil war for the throne on hold until he could find and gut her... Half way through the last game in the series she publicly posts his entire collection. His fleet splinters making his eventual defeat possible.

That makes sense, though I have to wonder just what the wanderer did to piss Crow off enough that he'd chase her through time itself. That's some real dedication towards attempting to catch someone. She deleted his porn collection. ALL of it.

If anything this should at least serve to clear up a lot of misconceptions on both sides of this.
Which does bode well going forward.

Personally I was always interested in the series because it offered strategy vidya AND the potential for a strong story and waifu choices.
They so rarely come together and that had me really excited. If I had to state a hope for future Sunrider games it would be that the Story get the kind of focus the Combat has gotten... maybe a little bit more. Because I'm all about that story...

I still think that they plan on opening up waifu options later on while keeping the story relatively on rails till that point. That said I did not enjoy the forced mance with Chigara. I wouldn't even have enjoyed a forced mance if it was with my preferred waifu. Agreed...I wonder if what they did with Sunrider Academy was meant to be a test run of romance options and how to best implement it. Keep the story more or less on rails till near the end taking time to thoroughly "Advertise" characters then BAM waifus for days in the last or near the last game. You want your pirate Yandere? They got that Yandere! You want your Tsun God Empress? They got that Empress! ect ect ect...

They bond over burning paperwork... So it's confirmed then: the next Sunrider installment will have Cosette and Maray as main characters and they will gather a ragtag team of socially disfunctional yet loveable loli space pirates. And they will navigate through space, stealing from the evil empires, pillaging for booty and spreading the word that yaoi is love and life. All true except for the last bit. Maray spreads the word of Yaoi. Cosette has Yandere focus on one specific target... Maray also has fanart of Fontana that they use to disable enemy Ryder pilots.

I haven't yet played the game but seeing this I am wondering if I should hold off until the new update goes in. I was going to play last night but then I saw the update news. I'd wait until the update. Maybe run through MoA or Academy again.

Since it's Cosette? Probably the exact opposite. It triggered a side effect. They bond over burning paperwork...

I'm glad there will be a 2.00 and I still think waifu choice will enter the picture later on when it will be easier to handle choices without having to worry about importing as much.

Honestly I'd say this is pretty spot on. With the current state of the game I really think it could use an "Enhanced" edition. Maybe another scene or two after the current ending to make it a bit less soul crushingly hopeless. Unless the characters removed from play in the ending really are gone for good. That... would hurt.

Liberation day is to me a mixed bag.
The music and combat are better. The characters are by and large just as likable.
But it feels almost painfully like the middle chapter of a story, it was relatively short and linear and the ending would be soulcrushingly depressing if I didn't think it would be altered or undone in the next game.
There will be people that are angry or hurt over this and I can understand where they're coming from. I'm going to try to remain calm and wait to see how the dev team react. I've loved everything else they have done. They've earned a little patience.

I've actually only started to get into VNs within the last year and a half or so and have found them rather enjoyable. Especially when they include other elements like strategy. So this series ended up being something of a natural fit for me. Come on now share, what sort of VNs have you been playing? Drop us some titles. All over the place really. Let's see there was one called Grisaia, Katawa Shoujo, MoA and Academy obviously. There were a few others my sister wants me to get one called "Clannad".

Chigara on the other hand... Well I wouldn't mind if we are railroaded into a romance with her that there is an option to stay friends/completely platonic. I think it suits things better at times. But I do agree that may build up resentment because of it... good God are we becoming Asaga? It might be a little bit more than simple resentment. I'm suspicious. She's in the perfect position to do the most physical and emotional damage should something go awry. But I guess we'll find out on Friday. But if Chigara ends up being a traitor I freaking called it.
